HappyHardcore.com radio clocks 1054 simultaneous listeners! |
|
What a massive day it is for hardcore music, less than 14 hours ago the DJ Silver live show on HappyHardcore.com radio finished after setting a new simultaneous listener record of 1054 people!
For all the people listening it was a moment in history both for HappyHardcore.com radio and hardcore music as we pushed the listener numbers through the roof to show the global strength of the hardcore community.
I, DJ Silver was speechless to watch the listener counter click over 1,000 listeners for the very first time, something I will never forget, running HappyHardcore.com out of my own pocket for the last 6 years has been tough and the site and myself have had some good and bad times, this is certainly one of the best achievement for an independent website like HappyHardcore.com
If you were tuned into the show you and or in the chat room you have witnessed it for yourself. For those that may have missed out I have put together a little run down of the events as they happened.
The show was scheduled as usual for 3 hours during the starting GMT 1PM, it started without a hitch and I started bangin out my set. At around 2:30pm with only half though the set the listener counter was hovering around 800 which is normal for about this time of day, I announced on air we had 800 people listening and the chat room started to perk up, I kept going and at around 3:30pm we were in the 900 ballpark, this also is about normal for some days so I announced we had just under 900 people listening and that if we got 50 more people we would break our listener record...the chat room started to heat up, everyone wanted to break the record, we could smell it.
The hype up worked and at 4:24pm we equaled our previous listener record at 954 people, I jumped on the mic and announced the news... we needed just one more person to break the record... At 4:34pm just 10 minutes later the listener counter clicked over 965 people just as I was laying down a mix into Gammer - Taking me higher... At this point the chat room exploded in floods of w00t's and !!! marks... We had done it! we had achieve a new record for the station... I jumped on the mic and announced to the world we had broken the record to much excitement, but why stop here? why would you? We didn't and this this how it played out...
At 4:36pm GMT we clocked 965
At 4:38pm GMT we clocked 966
At 4:44pm GMT we clocked 985
At 5:02pm GMT we clocked 986
This was it... we needed just 12 people to break 1000 listeners, the call went out... I mixed into Breeze & Styles - Heartbeartz (Scott Brown Remix) at 5:04pm GMT the counted clicked over 1005 people tuned in... This chat room went mental... floods of "OMG!", "**** yeah!", "w00t!" bombarded the chatroom... There was no more boundaries, we broke the 1000 listener barrier, it was a moment!
It might not seem much but for me to watch my own creation pass such a massive milestone left me speechless... I have much respect for all the people tuned in and all the people in the chat room I wanted to personally thank all of them... but the show wasn't over, we kept on rolling with the counter clocking ever higher... At 5:10pm GMT we passed 1052 and at 5:12pm GMT we hit 1054 to which we peaked for the now 5 hour extended show.
1000+ simultaneous listeners is a massive milestone for any internet radio station not to mention a hardcore only channel, we have been running the radio non stop 24/7 for close to 6 years now and we will continue to bring the hardcore to the people.
To celebrate the achievement chat member Seeman created a special desktop wallpaper that you can download (right click - save target as).
HappyHardcore.com clocking 1054 simultaneous listeners!

UK BBC Radio1 and Hard Dance |
|
After many months of campaigning the UK BBC Radio1 radio team have finally slipped some hardcore into their lineup. The show is a weekly rotating DJ / music called the "The Residency".
Each DJ will play once every six weeks for a total of six shows. After 36 weeks the entire line-up will be reviewed by Pete Tong with possible DJ additions, new genres and changes made to the mix.
Hardcore will be represented by a relatively unknown DJ called "Kutski" who will be playing what BBC are describing as "Underground hard dance/Hardcore"
The show is Sunday mornings 3am-5am starting May 1st 2005.
The CLSM crew have kindly posted a audio clip of Pete Tong (a BBC Radio1 dance presenter) talking about the new show.
