Stormtrooper calls it quits for hardcore music |
Author: Mortis
|
UK based hardcore producer Stormtrooper has posted on his blog that he has decided to hang up his hat when it comes to making new hardcore music. Stormtrooper says it all in his parting statement and cites the way that musical talent is swept under the rug while other old boys take all the earnings to be made.
You can read the full statement by clicking the discussion link to the forum on this post but part of his closing statement reads:
I have decided to stop writing UK Hardcore for the foreseeable future. The whole scene is royally messed up and I am not prepared to be claimed as its latest bitter dj/producer victim. Mainly as I am not bitter, I have travelled the world and met some amazing people because of hardcore, who could be bitter about that? I am just not prepared to work hard for a scene that doesn't appreciate it.
There are some amazing people involved with UK Hardcore, people who work their asses off week in and week out for little or no reward. There are also way too many over the hill dinosaurs, riding on the coat tails of their previous success, bringing nothing new, just milking it for all they can whilst artists with far greater skill get left on the sidelines as they are not part of the "old boys club"... |

AATW - the most annoying piece of music ever written |
Author: silver
|
Hate it or love it "donk" or scouse house music is popular in the UK in certain circles, it's currently been promoted heavily by AATW the same company releasing the next Bonkers and the Clubland series of albums, also hardcore artists Darren Styles, Sharky and Breeze are exclusively signed to AATW.
While HappyHardcore.com doesn't normally cover Donk music we noticed AATW are currently promoting the new Blackout crew track as the "the most annoying piece of music ever written" and that is a direct quote from their main page! The song sounds like a giant advert to buy the ringtone version of the same song, a semi paradox. While we're not sure the marketing angle on this release, blackout crew continue to release more tunes to the donk lovers.

Bonkers (18?) 3CD - 27th April 2009 |
Author: craigy b
|
A very good spot was made by a member of the site for the upcoming Bonkers 18 title, we had heard the release was scheduled for April and over the weekend popped up a new title for sale Bonkers due for release 27th April 2009 which is a very good indication of a confirmation for the title.
AATW and all DJ's involved (not released yet) are being very tight lipped about the new release and no details have been released as of yet except for this release date of 27th April 2009 from an online retailer that is also yet to be confirmed.
What is also interested to note is that the release is called Bonkers and not Bonkers 18, have AATW restarted the series? We'll keep you informed.
Bonkers (18) is a 3 disc DJ mixed CD released by UK record label All Around the World (AATW) due for tentative release 27th April 2009, DJ's mixed it yet are yet to be announced, |

The past. The present. The future - Free 3 disc album download |
Author: djkenmasters
|
If you're a regular to the forums this isn't really news, over the past few months members of HappyHardcore.com banded together and put together a free downloadable album called - The Past, The Present, The Future. The CD is made entirely by HappyHardcore.com forum members
The album consists of 3 CD's, the first 2 CD's 'The Past to The Present' & 'The Present to The Future' are completely DJ friendly, 320kb/s hardcore tracks where the DJ's & the listeners can feel free to use them as they wish (according to the crew involved). The 3rd CD 'The Best of PPF' is a mix by HappyHardcore.com member DJ Bulby G giving the listeners some options on how to listen.
The crew involved said the concept is to showcase the era's of our beloved hardcore scene from the early days right though to the present & then what the forum members possibly think the future of hardcore will hold over the coming years, there's something in there for everyone basically.
The album comes with great artwork all in a nice packaged download!
Download link: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=Z0G3WPNT - You will need WinRAR or similar program to uncompress. HHC.com wishes to thank Ken Masters for putting this together without any official site involvement this was purely a member based effort! |

Darren Styles & uk hardcore the new teen pop music? |
Author: DarrenJ
|
Posted recently was the clubland tour in the UK from last year, Darren Styles and a host of other commercial dance groups performed on the tour including Scooter, Flip n Fill etc.... Interesting to note Darren Styles performed on the tour and performed the hardcore version of Save me. Check the crowd size.
Has hardcore music gone commercial mainstream in the UK? Take look and decide for yourself...

Live show radio + video returns to HappyHardcore.com! |
Author: Cotts
|
If you didn't tune in last week you didn't see it, yes see it, HappyHardcore.com had a secret test run for all the regular listeners of the station, we are back once again streaming videos shows to the masses with DJ Cotts on air last week and again this week! HappyHardcore.com was the first hardcore station in the world to do live video shows 5 years ago back in early 2004 so we're happy to be once again back rocking the video bitstreams in 2009! All the liveshows are back this week on Happyhardcore.com radio!
The line up? The Aussie Hardcore show is up first this week with Cotts and Ravine, DJ Silver then tears up the decks from Tokyo, Japan, The Swedish Candy show with DJ Bluecore at the new Euro / UK friendly time, then North American boys (and girls) kickin' it hard with NAHM with DJ guests Spunky & DJ Impact (formally Infexious audio), a few hours later and to finish it all up the second Video Aussie Hardcore show with DJ Cotts!
While we had a great show last week, we are still flexing our servers to handle the traffic so the video link will be posted in the chatroom 10 mins before the second Aussie hardcore show, you will have to join the chatroom to get the link. Remember it is a full audio and video stream make sure you don't listen to the audio stream and the video stream at the same time the audio will be out of sync, if you want to watch the video it comes with audio!

Who's who and whats what |
Author: silver
|
Edit 2009/03/04/: Many producers and fans have contacted the site saying "why is this producer not on the list"... this is a list of label owners and artists signed exclusively to labels and brands not a list of "top producers"... there are many top name producers like Darwin, Weaver, Fracus, Stormtropper, Nomad, DJ Cotts, Ravine, Orbit1 etc that release many top tunes that are not listed because they are not directly running a label or signed exclusive to one, which is not a bad thing actually :)
New to hardcore or just can't keep up with the who's who and whats what? To clear up some confusion here is a brief (but not extensive) list of people involved in uk hardcore / happy hardcore musically.
The list is certainly not complete and only covers exclusive agreements and record labels, should this info prove popular we'll extend it and do a separate list for event promoters worldwide.
Listed in alphabetical order:
Al Storm - Raver Baby, 24/7 Hardcore, Warped Science
Brisk - Blatant Beats, Next Generation
Darren Styles - AATW, Junkbox
Dougal - Essential Platinum, Ministry of Sound
