   Vinyl RIP 2006?
Do you love vinyl records? Do you love the control, the feel and the different ways you can DJ and mix with it? Vinyl is a piece of art, it costs quite a lot to produce, it costs (for the most part) quite a bit to purchase, it's something for the ages.

Would you be shocked to learn that vinyl is slowly fading out? Without mentioning names, several producers and labels have stopped producing vinyl all together because of slipping sales. It's debatable why this is the case, for the most part people point to the CD-J taking over. While there is nothing wrong with the CD-J and DJing with it, what is a problem is that while vinyl sales drop you would hopefully expect download sales to increase, but this is just simple not the case. Download sales per track can not be even counted in the hundreds, while download sales cost next to nothing to put on sale it simply is not enough for full time producers to make a living and pay the bills. This will force producer to stop making music or produce part time, either way slowing releases to market and possibly reducing track production quality as producers can't focus 100% on music anymore.

This is not just a hardcore problem, it's across the dance board problem. While albums sales are still going strong, vinyl and downloads are dropping, some people point to quality of tracks, some point to sharing and pirating of tracks. Either way, if you don't want to see vinyl die or even the music you love, if you want to be a DJ in the future, people are going to have to buy more music at the grass roots DJ level otherwise there will be nothing but compilation albums and nothing for the DJ's.

The solution is in your hands, the people of hardcore, the people of this site, the ravers at the events and the bedroom DJ's all over the world. This isn't your usual blag here, top hardcore producers are leaving music altogether as you read this. Love hardcore? Love the rush of the music flowing through you at raves and parties worldwide? Dancing the night away like there is no tomorrow to the beat of a 4/4 kick drum? Support hardcore and it's producers.

   HappyHardcore.com UK camping trip
Not necessarily hardcore news, but interesting none the less, a group of members on HappyHardcore.com headed by member K-Hole are putting together a now annual camping trip in Cornwall, England for June/July 2006. This is the second year the event will happen with proper planning this year (last year was a little short notice). The entire thing is pay for it yourself, you will need to sort a tent or place to sleep, food, drink, plus you will need to make your own way there.

So if you up for some fun this summer time and in the UK and want to meet some members of the site and have some fun times with some hardcore music lovers under the sun have a read of the event information and last years antics in this forum thread.

   Clubland X-treme hardcore 2
The Clubland X-treme hardcore 2 album cover made an appearance over the weekend, we are not 100% sure if this is the final cover or not as when asked we were told this is not the final cover, but since it has been posted on official sites perhaps it now is. Either way take a look at the cover.

News on the album is much the same as the first release, 3CD set with Darren Styles and Breeze each mixing a CD and Hixxy providing a "best tracks" and "remixes" on the bonus third disc. AATW (the label releasing the album) are also reporting the album is "160bpm", we think this is more of a person that wrote the sales sheet doesn't know the real BPM of hardcore, but we could not confirm this, it might be 160bpm? We will keep you informed. For reference Hardcore is generally 170BPM (beats per minute), trance and hard house is around 140-155bpm.

No release date is set except for "drops soon... ". No release information has been released to stores as of yet.

Styles, Breeze and Hixxy are back for Clubland X-treme hardcore 2

   Mark spoon dies
An early innovator of dance music was Mark Spoon (Markus Loffel) of famous collaborations such as Jam & Spoon, Tokyo Ghetto Pussy and Dance 2 Trance just to make a few.

On the 11th Jan 2006 Mark Spoon was found dead in his residence, from what appears to be a Heart attack, He was 39 years old. Although his project was far from hardcore I know many a person that was influenced from early creations of Mark that went onto hardcore music.

RIP Mark Spoon.
