Okay maybe the argument "better quality = better sales" is wrong. But I still think it is a little percentage. I buy music to mix it, not for listening. If I just need it for listening, I personally don't mind the youtube quality... so if the quality of a track is not good enough I will not buy it and so not mix it.
So for me it does count, at the moment nothing makes me want to buy tracks in the Evolution Records store, because someone said they're in 192! Sure they're good tracks but I want the music in high quality. And that's why I won't buy it, I'll just leave it... and trust me, I've already spent a lot of money on music, probably more than what I paid for my gear (CDJ-800's, Technics MK5's, DJM-700 and more...).
I am a perfectionist, and I can't stand when something is not perfect!

I don't think it would change something, I've sent him mails trough the contact form and messages over Facebook but didn't get any answer... I wanted to ask if I could buy some of his tunes digitally, stuff like "Interstate - I Died in Aberdeen" which you can't get anywhere anymore...

Hmm I've never bought from there so I can't help you. Check if the track is available somewhere else, like trackitdown or imodownload!

I've bought nearly 15 tracks from JAL's shop and they are really 320kbps masters except for some tunes from the older freeform labels (tunes are Point Zero and Rock The House from Bonkers and DATA) which sound weird - I don't know how to describe it but there's something wrong with the channels. Also when you put those tracks into a computer DJing program, they get like 500% more volume than the rest of the tracks. I've still used these in mixes though you definitely notice how oddly they sound when mixed from or into another track.

@Revs: I got my Died in Aberdeen vinyl for not so much actually, throu Discogs.
But yea, just like when Next Gen finally released their tracks digitally, I bought 80% of their stuff from 2000-2003, and I would do the same when Scott Brown gets his songs up... depending on if he does his back-catalog or not.

Yeah, although I'd like to have it digitally, without any crackles :-(
I guess that's not possible anymore...

I was lucky with my Died in Aberdeen vinyl, was easy to clean out. But I HATE when it crackles or is heavily noisy and unrepairable, even with software (I got 3 copies of Forever Yours because of the pops that come every 2-3 second)

Why is that? People got on absolutely fine before CD's mixing came about.

I think his definitions of "need" and "want" are messed up in general...

It does for me.
It makes me literally cringe because it just distracts me so much that I lose any interest I had in the song at the moment if it continues on.

What about all the music that was mixed before CD's came about? And CD mixing is only a recent thing.
