Its still under the category of electronic music.
A better one would be: Its like comparing metal to metalcore.

anything that has bass, thump thump thump, people immediately assume it's techno, but that's because our culture has been so corrupted by the rap scene and not many know of the 'sub-genres' of any dance music.
i don't find it offending when people think every dance song is techno because it's that they don't know any better. some of you may find it insulting, but i'm not one of them. i like that the hardcore scene is more or less still "underground"/not all that big because it's something that's ours and makes us "special." if it ever goes mainstream, i could just kill myself. because when things go mainstream it gets fuhke3d by the media and wannabe, scene wh0res.

LOL yep. Funnily enough my brother has a techno tune that has the bit of his tune your talking about on a loop, I found it quite amusing when I heard him playing it the other day.

shi!t man why don't you loosen up a little!?!? and that wasn't even the point of my post. i guess next time if i were to say something like that, i should make the text smaller or italicized. my point being was that i like that it's not so popularized because when things go mainstream it gets fuhk3d. simple as!
and it does make us special coz you know why? because we're not like everyone else who listens to rap, hip-hop, and all that.
