Is the almighty technics as mighty as it's supposed to be? Or are the vestax and numarks going down hill?

This might have been posted before, i dunno ... but hey it'll spark some conversation .

I have 2x Vestax PDX-2000. I've never used technics but these are great decks- solid, stable, and some nice extra features!

I dont think you can really say that one deck is better than the other. I personnally have numark ttx 1 s and i think they are great. having tried techs out too i dont think there is a lkot of difference in the way they work. Both solid and reliable decks. Both hold theire pitch and both have good torque, though the numark has got noticably higher torque IMO.

As for the vestax i dont reallly know coz i have never really tried em but from what ive sxeen and felt in my local shop i think theay are pretty solid too.

But as i sais i think its all down to personnal oppinion and what feels best for you. Though if your gonna play in clubs a lot there is always a good reason to go for echs :)

You know it Frank!

I have TTX1's and Techs and in my opinion the Numark is the best deck i've ever used.

Technics might be the industry standard but their days of dominance are long gone!

It may be because I'm an old fart, but I still won't touch anything but a 1200.

12's all the way. THat's all I have to say. Vestax is a toy, numark is a toy, 12's are for the real DJs :) The others are so... chunky.

95% of clubs and events use SL1200's... while there is nothing wrong with the other brands you should get used to using SL1200's so that when you get to play in these clubs you can use the equipment well enough to sound good :)

That's why i'll never get rid of my 1200's - i might prefer the Numark 'toys'
but i know i'll only be judged on my technics technique.
See what i did there?

I've actually sold my Vestax decks (the price I was offered was more then what I had paid) and now I'm getting Numark TT X1's. I've been using my friends' decks and I love them.

My ex had a pair of SL12s so they're what I got really used to. My mates have a variety of different turntables but none come close to the Technics IMHO. They just feel ... right.

I prefer the old Gemini PT1000's as they went up to +/-10 as opposed to technics' 8. Is it true that there's a deck out there with +/-50?

yes my numark go to 50 but o be honest thereisnt a lot of point to that. I just use it occassionally to play a few trance tunes in there too lol. I must say though that i do regularly find myself going up to around the 10 % and therewfore if i did have techs it would have to be the mk5s

+/-8, 10, 20, 50% AND they'll play at 78 rpm too!

How cool is that?
There is virtually no limit to what you can do with tunes on those babies!!

My kind of toys.

yeah its funny when you play a tune thats 33 rpm at 78 lol. Abd then speed it up 50 % too. The platter just flies round

And you get some hefty speedcore
