look, technics conquer, the new numarks i have used the ttx10s or something and its getting to the point where djing is getting to easy, technics are standard but people know that u can dj if u use em and use em well.
no add ons, no going backwards and they are what they the best
especially if u wanna be hardcore! they didnt have toys back in the day where the decks did all the work and the dj got all the glory!

So because someone can use 1210's means that ppl know they can Dj.
So the new wave of decks do all the work for ya.

... no way is it easier on the Vestax of Numark . . . it's just different. The rewind/extra power of the vesax doesn't make mixing easier at all?

I totally agree, what are you on about?
In the end though, it all comes down to the dots. The 1200s have the dots. Vestax and Numark don't. Therefore 1200s are better.

When it comes to the top 3 decks you're gonna like the 1 you're most used to playing. I personally use technics cos I like to think that if i'm lucky enough to ever play in a club thats what they'll most likely have. But a definitely agree that with cd decks becoming more popular that this industry standard will sometime be no more and some of the other decks are now really impressive. So really it's about finding what 1 u like and sticking to it.

All the buttons on the vestax are recessed into the unit - you won't accidently press them trust me ;)
If you are confused by them... don't use them? I only very rarely use the break/start knobs for effect but that's it. The use for the reverse and quatz lock is admitatly beyond me.
Oh and a little thing on the 'you need techies if you go into a club scene'
..... nah ;)
I DJ'd at a mates party in these small venue where they had some 1210's. I got up there, started a record .. almost recoiled in horror at this 'thing' lack of torque was a right shock as was the stiff pitch fader (I know people like these, but I don't know why! hate 'em!) but I still got up there. Sure enough, my first mix was vile, I had to abandon it. Second mix was ok, a little sketchy - by my third mix I'd figured them out and was DJ'ing as well as I was at home. End of story :)
My main problems with them were learning how to slow it down and speed it up all over again. I kept stopping the platter because I was used to my vestax trying to pull my arm off! not so with the techies...
Anyway.. my point. You don't need techies even if you do want to go into the club scene. If you're a good DJ, you're good DJ, on any decks.

^^^ You said it... Even if you don't like SL1200's they are the standard (like it or not), people are better on what the are used to... So get used to the standard SL1200's are your mint in all clubs.

Well im happy with my numarks. And i have tried techs. I would rather have these at home to be able to play about with a bit more to be honest. And i dont find techs that different to mix on. i usually touch the platter to slow it down anyway.

I've only been djing for like two years now, so I'm still young into the feild..
I've never djed on anyone elses equipment, which is the next step for me... (learning other equipment).
In the end djing is about 85% skill, and 15% equipment. Or so that's what I'm told.
I've been using my Gemeni PT-2000 for two years, and think they are a great deck to start off with.... I guess we'll see when I upgrade them this summer.
