Today I was shocked when I went to the downtown area of Wiesbaden. During my search for Lindsey Stirling's album I went to several department stores, but all of them have disbanded their music departments. has music became so uninteresting that people only buy it digital? How boring is doing this shit!!! I'd like spending hours in a store wearing headphones and listen to music. **** YOU, minimalistic digital generation!!! YOU totally suck!!!
To post a few hints of hope I went to Saturn, who I really hate for charging high prices for low quality, but at least they have a music department and 1/4 of it is occupied by electronic music. I found Hardcore/Gabber, Hardstyle, Trance, House, Electro, Dubstep and even Happy Hardcore (well, actually it was an old album of Scooter... ).
They even offered a few vinyls, but the majority was Rock from the 70's and 80's.

Not at all, seriously, this year is one of the strongest when it comes to album releases. There are like 15 important releases this year!
may some shops closed but that doesnt mean that CD format is dying imo.

Yes I am aware, that a lot of CDs are published by undergound labels this year. But I'd like to have the physical touch before I buy it, which Amazon and other internet stores simply can not offer.

Online shops in general are a big threat to local shops atm., specially Zalando and Amazon, I have to agree with that. Only CD shop worth the mention is Amoeba in Hollywood, they have thousands of albums there, but 90% are Metal.

Hope cds aren't on the way out, i love buying cds myself, used to love going up to my local music shops ( which included hmv ) and getting the new bonkers cd on release date or shortly after, doesn't happen now cause of the way music shops are at the min, and i don't buy as much cds as i used to, the last few years i've ordered my cds on-line, but still love cds and would def prefer them over digital releases

CDs aren't really the only thing that's gotten shafted from local stores (or specialized stores closing down). Alot of smaller gamestores has closed down, and what's currently happening with HMV or Game in UK?

HMV went into administrision and closed down most of there stores, some of them survived i think, because i think the 1 in belfast is still open, but its the only 1 which survived in the 6 counties i think, not to sure about there english stores, and not to sure about game, but i thin its alright, well the 1 in my local shopping centre is still open

HMV have been Rip-Off merchants for years.
I remember going into the City sometimes and couldn't believe that some of the CD Singles at that time were being sold for ?4.99 or more each.
Luckily i lived in a small town who had normal prices and then once a month would clear out any ex-chart or other singles what didn't sell for cheap.
If HMV sold new chart cds around ?4.99-?7.99 it wouldn't be so bad but i've seen price tags on 2nd hand cds i bought with their hmv sticker on saying ?16.99/?18.99
I just think WTF people buy/pay all that!

Alot of singles in Sweden ranged from 29 SEK (Paper cover singles, 1-3 tracks) and up to 99 SEK (Maxi singles, 3-9 tracks), back then that would be around 1 to 9 uk pounds.

well cd's are the root for the problem ... it started all when industry told us we should quit tapes and start buying cds now you can get that 1s and 0s over the internet. i know why i am staying with my tapedeck. sounds much better.
about stores? they generally die imho... ebay/amazon to only name a few reasons...

I remember when i was 13 or 14 i was down in belfast with my mum and dad and was looking them to buy me a cd, it was some stage in early 2000 and i had just bought bonkers 7 that christmas, which wasn't that long out, so i loved bonkers and was hooked on hardcore, so we went into hmv and bonkers 1 & 4 were there and another one, can't remember which, probably 7 haha, but i wanted bonkers 4 badly because people were telling me it was brillant, probably the best, and it was ?22.99! and that price back then, bonkers 1 was ?16.99 and can't remember the price of the other one, but might of been slightly cheaper again, but my mums face when she seeen the price! and of course she was trying not to buy it and trying to persuade me to go for bonkers1, because it was cheaper but she bought me it anyway, but i've never seen a bonkers cd as dear, or probably any other 3 cd hardcore compilation as dear in a music store

That is disgusting, People paying 22.99 a pop for a cd/compilation is Bonkers.... I live in a small town so the prices aren't too bad but i suppose in the major cities etc they can charge whatever they want

I used to work for HMV and i totally agree they are really bad for ripping people off, considering the buying consignment of some products they sell (seriously i used to sticker dvd's up for ?12 - ?13 when they were bought in for ?5 - ?7 and dvd's for ?3 when they were bought for 50p each!) it always happens there though, after a few weeks when somethings not really popular anymore they return most of the stock but keep a few copies at an inflated price just to "recoup their losses" and they wonder why they're close to shutting down! only time it's worth venturing in there now is when they have a big sale on
