Do many people out there feel the same way? Having listened to happy hardcore or UK hardcore since the mid 90's. I'm finding innovation and originality in the scene seems to have gone out the window a long time ago. It seems everyone is trying to sound like Breeze and Styles with their productions and very few have the balls to do anything different. It's always trancey riffs and nothing else virtually.
Is not an easy scene to break into anyway and most big name producers only sign other big name artists that sound similar to themselves. SY and Unknown for example play sets with only their own productions. To me this is selfish and not about putting back into the hardcore scene. Specially when their own productions are pretty basicly made.
Since I've moved away from hardcore producing and djing and moved on to House, Electro and Uplifting Dance type scene I'm finding way more gig's. Thousands more productions of top quality to choose from and way more innovation with different sounds. Makes sense to me now why so many good producers and djs have left hardcore for other scenes. Why stick with a scene which doesn't appreciate newcomers and is full of music that sounds the same!! Some of you might say I'm jaded and that is fine. But I'm sure if you stick with the hardcore scene long enough. You will more than likely feel the same way I do one day.
Saying that, I wish any up n commers all the best out there and wish you well in getting recognised for your hardwork.

there is still good hardcore being produced, you just have to dig to find it.
of course you're going to get more gigs playing out house, it's not as underground and doesn't scare people.
yes you're jaded, it happens when you get older.

Yes. Honestly i haven't paid any attention to new Hardcore since the last Hardcore Underground compilation. And i only bought that to support the guys. Hardcore is very bland and uninspired at the minute, i say that it's been that way for years.
House was a good move pal, tis booming right now.

Yes, I almost feel the same way you do. I am tired of there not being a mid-section, or "bridge", in tracks now, it's just the intro again. I like House, but I like the disco/hard house sound, and I don't know where to begin to look after being so into Hardcore all these years.
Also, you're in America, where pretty much any genre with a 4/4 above 150bpm has had it's day! It's all about Breaks/Dnb/Dub Step/Electro/House now (at least in Atlanta.)

Same here. I've been listening since 95/95 and in my opinion the music being released at the moment is nothing compared to then. The technology is far better now hence the superior sound quality but I really get the feeling that the quality of music has suffered due to the influx of stupid and over used glitch fx and the like. I get the felling like the passion has been ripped out of the hardcore music genre and replaced by a robot who is programmed to inject every new release with the same bland concepts, sounds and lack of feeling.
Don't get me wrong there is still the odd exception clinging onto the current style of music and they are still trying so hard to keep their tracks fresh and interesting but sadly it looks like their talent will ultimately be overlooked in favour of those who can use glitch, effectrix & autotune.
If you really want to enjoy music again then try listening to Nu Ruve stuff, if you like your early to mid 90's hardcore then you'll love it.

i live in the uk but over the last 7 years or so i have been way out of touch with the scene. i download the odd song now and then but thats it. from what i have heard it is all similar now. but the thing which i loved with hardcore is that there is so many different styles, i dont know because as i said i am way out of touch, but back when i listened you had the stuff like hixxy, styles, dougal played, then you had a totally different hardcore coming from the likes of sharkey, kevin energy, then there was stuff a bit different again from the likes of brisk. is it still the same now people?

I still believe that when the term was accepted as "Happy Hardcore", we had much more variety than since the term switched over to "UK Hardcore".

So true. It's like as if the attempt to break away from a particular tendency dug an even deeper pigeon hole.

I have been listening to Hardcore since 2004 and always choose the old over the new. The old was harder & more veried in sound.
I download alot of old skool sets, more so Dutch rather than Uk but the veriety is always good.
These days few artists have any distinction and try to make Hardcore in the Raverbaby style because they belive it is what people want to hear. You get other people making differnet types of Hardcore but they don't even get a look in so good tunes get ignored and it is back to the same old Hardcore we have been hearing for the last 5 years.
Darren Styles is releasing a tune from 2005 as his latest single. In 2000 anything from 1995 was classed as Old Skool so in 2010 does that mean darren Styles is releasing an 'Old Skool' tune? It sounds dated and isn't the 'most freshest and innotive' Hardcore around is it?
Innovation has gone these days

I don't understand this argument because you like old skool, so by that logic it should be a good thing and you should like it.

I like 90s Old Skool. Not 2000s Old Skool.
