I was thinking...
If it was up to you.... for the next Bonkers release, how would you improve it, and make it better then Bonkers: The Original Hardcore?
I ask this, because there has been a lot of people saying its no good....
So then people, how would you improve it?
New Dj? More Djs? please tell....

bonkers roughly covered most grounds... be it freeform, more commercial stuff, and gabber and harder stuff...
this mays release saw that virtually abolished. we saw quite an old selection, a freeform mix( which in fairness wasnt entirely freeformish) and a commercial mix..
I'd like to see it go back to 4 cd's with scott brown covering the basis of his style of hardcore and some harder elements. god knows doing commercial stuff with all the vocals. it's traditionally been hixxy, but i dare say dougal & gammer could do it. the freeform stuff could be done with sharkey. he knows what he's doing in that area. the final disk could be a more underground style. similar to that we heard on say hardcore heaven 4 cd 2/3 or hardcore underground. maybe some breakbeat hardcore and whatnot. that'd be ideal for me. also, i'd like it to exclude hixxy, darren styles, unknown, scooter, cascada, flip & f-ing fill, or any remixes of any AATW track or any track thats simply pure cheesy nonsence like fly on the wings of love.

alright maybe i should have read this b4 my joke post. it would be great to see no AATW interference, but it is highly unlikely. If anything, it will more than likely increase.
Adding another CD to the album won't solve anything, it might even cause more problems. I would say keep it at 3, but bring back that back 2 back system that they had for 15-17. It worked out great, especially since 15 was one of the best out there in bonkers imo
the 4 cds was a great idea at the beginning, but i personally think that 13 and 14 were some of the worst discs out there. so the back 2 back not only brings more flavor to each CD, but it will also prevent it from being a CD overwhelmed by tracks from that 1 dj

I thought Bonkers 17 was an important step in the right direction; that isn't to say it is perfect, much like what we do is obviously imperfect, just that it brought new elements and vision to an existing series that had been circling for a while.
So I guess what I would do is look back on that, and build on that.....
( Particuarly given that I maintain Bonkers 17 riffed off the newfound HU series to no small degree. )

gotta agree on that... Bonkers 17 was quite the album, but I gotta say Sharkey's disc on 18 lived up to my expectations set by his disc with Kevin Energy on 17. The Hixxy disc isn't exactly useful since we get all the RaverBaby we need on Clubland, and the Scott Brown side of things was missing... For next time, I hope to have an Essential Platinum showcase mix to live up to the Quosh disc on 18! True Hardcore left an empty spot in my heart :( And bring back Scott Brown! There seems to be plenty Evolution records on the way for this year too, and he always mixes it up with plenty of variety.

I agree with this for the most part, except hixxy's gotta have a disc. He started it ffs. You do realize that hardcore was built upon the so-called "pure cheesy nonsence like fly on the wings of love?" The point of a four-disc compilation is to cover all the bases.

Scott Brown doesn't need Bonkers. The direction is horrid and something Brown avoids.

I thought the thread was about improving bonkers not "bonkers needs scott brown" scott brown has distanced himself from ukcore and mainly plays abroad, hasnt been producin much either...

Actually, Evolution has quite a few releases scheduled for 2009 already. 2008 was dead, but it's coming back and I really hope it means mr Brown shall part take in another compilation soon. The next Bonkers would be ideal for me :)
