What do you think will happen? I mean **** all that dated Clubland (times change, music changes, nothing stays the same for ever) but played some forgotten tunes from when Hardcore was HARDcore, like this tune:
What do you think will happen? Like do you think people will like it or run out of the room! This is actually real Hardcore so I was thinking, will anyone dare break the rules & play a real thumper in their mixor will it be just another tune with a dated Trance rift & bassline and soft kicks?
You could call this tune dated but I doubt most of the kids at today's popcore raves would have heard tunes like this before so I doubt we should class this as Old Skool!

i don't kno what song u were tryin 2 post, but ppl go there already expectin a certain sound from a dj. so if they start hearing something totally different from what that dj they paid 2 c totally different, of course they would b upset.
and same thing goes for the theme of the rave. if events r gonna play old skool music, then they will advertise it. it would b foolish to think that u can advertise rave w/o giving dj names and subgenres of electronica.

There's probably a bit of irony in there.........somewhere ;)

Thats why I won't go to a UK rave. (Infact I won't go to a Dutch rave coz of the Nu Style shit) It seems that they (the mainstream) think we can't handle real Hardcore!
If I was playing at an event & people walked out I will put it down to being unable to handle such tunes!
Let's face it! Raverbaby is Old Skool so that means Old Skool is now the thang! Naughty!

well not really, as has already been said; people goto the raves that they goto to see specific dj's play specific genre's mate. even if it isnt "real hardcore", people who are a fan of say... squad-e (for example), arent gonna want him to play that tune out cos it's not his style is it. If you wanna see that played at an event goto an event where a dj is gonna play that style of hardcore.

hahaha Smoogie, you always link to these super hyperactive repetitive thunderdome type of songs (like the other one with the evil clown on the pic)! This really isn't the Happy Hardcore I've ever been into, so I'm glad it isn't popular over here in Canada.
Part of the reason why I love Happy Hardcore is the melodic song-writing involved, and I don't see any in that sample.

smoogie you're fast becoming a less jaded version of '95. Please don't go down this road.
It seems to me if you were REALLY hardcore you'd accept it for what it is... Not complain about how you don't like it.
words of truth

That's because that track isn't even happy hardcore
It's happy gabber.

Times are a changin i'm afraid smoog. If you were to drop something like this in a commercial rave these days you would clear the floor. Its a real shame but its just the way it is : (
but I can see where your coming from mate. I put on some old skool Bouncey Techno in the car the other day. A few tracks from the Rez era & I haven't bobbed my head to hardcore like that in a long time!
Its the ruff, simple edge of old hardcore that I love & when people produce old skool remixes that are totally over produced, it just doesn't work IMO. Everythings too clean & precise so it will never have that old feel.
Don't get me wrong though, I'm a huge fan of the Freeform/Trancecore movement & it really is the future IMO but when I listen to these old Scottish & Dutch classics it just makes me realise how poofy we really have become!
