I usually read all the posts... sorry JakeAlwaysHTID, but I don't like deciphering huge blocks of unstructured characters, so i'll pass on this one.
And yes Trimms, you are right, pretty much any track on any CXH overpowers the track that started this thread (Even the male vocal ones, mr Pascal)! :P
Latininxtc, after some times on these boards, I can really say it's always the same people bitching about the RBC and the other popular labels. The thing is this minority of people complain LOUDER than the majority.

smoogie seriously hardcore today is way more diverse than ever. Yes theres the commercial clubland crap, but there's also bonkers, everything freeform and breakbeat. If you can't find a SINGLE part of hardcore today that you like, i think you're EXTREMELY narrow-minded and one-dimensional.
I'm not trying to be an *******, i think you're a pretty safe guy but some of the things you say is just shit. Nothing but shit. Nothing of value. You're being exactly like '95 now and that's REALLY sad.
If you hate all forms of hardcore today and only like old skool then i'm sorry mate but you're nowhere near as hardcore as you think you are.
In regards to music "not being hard enough" i find it ridiculously amusing that you can say that about nu style gabber. New gabber today is infinitely harder than those shit drums they used back in the day - fair enough you don't like it as much - that's your prerogative, but to say its softer is just a blatant lie... seriously when was the last time you listened to someone like tommyknocker? Hard as ****ing nails mate.
You don't appreciate hardcore for what it is... i think i can officially call you jaded now...

Old Skool or Nu Skool its all Hardcore music. The title 'Hardcore' used for music IMHO no longer is refers to music thats necessarilly hardcore but particular styles of music. For example a lot of 140 bpm Dubstep tunes are a lot harder* than most UK Hardcore tunes. But hey the name has stuck.
Smoogies tune probably wouldn't go down well at a UK Hardcore rave as most people there want that particular sound. But there are probably venues where it would go down well** and that applies to other old skool sounds as well.
I have noticed a difference between the UK Hardcore and D&B scenes in that D&B fans seem to be more open to old classics being dropped into modern sets. Perhaps its because there is
more of a connection between Hardcore Jungle and D&B than there is between Old Skool Hardcore and UK Hardcore.
Smoogie, if I was you I'd just accept that you won't change UK Hardcore into Bouncy Techno and just enjoy the tunes you like. For me UK Hardcore comes a long way down my list of favourite genres so I just let them get on with it and concentrate on the scenes that I prefer.
* - Harsher more distorted sounds with less melody/harmony etc.
** - I can't see Smoogie's link so am assuming its another of his Bouncy Techno classics.

hahahaha
:D:D:D
There ARE exceptions. Like tunes with Ant Johnson (My Oxygen, etc.). I'm not saying male vocals can't be good, but 90% of the time they're absolutely terrible in UK hardcore. And Junior sucks.

That's just because most of the time he sounds like a girl anyway! XD
Just kidding, I love his vocals too, but he's more the androgynous type than, say, Re-Con. And how can you be so harsh on Junior! I admit than back in the 90's, when he did pretty green eyes and such, he was unbearably terrible... but nowadays he seems to have benefited from some vocal training/experience. Have you heard the latest version of Pacific Sun on Quosh Limited? He's done a great job with it!
u know i love the old skool sound, but that song is just f**kin weird imo and i'd freak out hearing that.
and also i think it's humorous how much some of y'all r hung up on vocals, male or otherwise, when back in the day no one gave a shit on putting vocals on these sounds. i feel that vocals only started getting included is because the masses believed it's not music if it doesn't have vocals.
i remember when first hearing electronica i would get dissed by kids in class about the techno i listened to. but then again they grew to understand as we all got older and i moved into trance. basically i think we shouldn't focus so much on the vocals and instead focus more on the beats, bass, melody, etc. i know i hated 'amigos forever' on CXH5 because the vocals were so cheesy, but it now i agree with some ppl in saying it's a decent track regardless of the vocals

Some of the best tunes have been ruined by vocals! 3 steps ahead- Gabbers Unite being a prime example!
The 'have you ever been yellow, have you ever been scared' bit ****s up the sick rift! Proper naughty tune though!

Smoogie you should have came up to the "Back to the Future" nights at Carling Academy
a few years back and you would have herd loads of that style..
and i dont think gabba & happy gabba was ever that popular in england
so even back then you probably wouldn`t have herd much of it at raves.
You can blame your parents for you not being born in the early/mid 70`s
