Tell you what, one thing I have noticed from this thread is how strongly people in the UK (sorry to exclude everybody else, but until you've lived with it....  ) feel about Chavs. And no, this isn't just the middle-aged, middle-class Daily Mail readers moaning over the garden fence to their neighbour. *Most* of the comments in this thread are from under 30s people who like to go out and get hammered as much as the next binge drinker  .
I don't think I've seen so many people on this site venting such strong feelings on one subject ever! I think too many Chavs have ruined too many people's nights out, and in many cases even their lives - B.C.'s post I think sums it up for many people - you shouldn't have to be afraid walking down the street, but the majority of people are.
I got mugged by a chav once.... for a 70p bag of chips!!! These guys are just so unpredictable, and half of them carry weapons of some sort. I don't know if anybody saw a program on ITV the other night (at least I think it was ITV) where a journalist who regularly investigates and talks with big gangster types (proper gangsters as in the Kray type gangsters) where one of the Gangsters said something along the lines of "You think we're scary *points to gang of 15 year old chavs* They're the dangerous ones".
So not all people who dress like Chavs are dangerous.... maybe you could start wearing signs or something that says "I'm one of the nice Chavs"? You could even get a gold medallion that said it if you liked. Until that day I think I'll keep my prejuduced views and make sure I don't end up with a 7" piece of steel out of my gut because I looked at somebody the wrong way or I was wearing the wrong colour jeans - or even was carrying some chips home from the chippy!

yeas i do carry a tool wid me, but that is just in case im gettin the fcuked kicked otta me on da way home.

im thinking of the pissed up blokes just comming out of the pub, i c a fight nearly every night out side my local and they usually do a lot of dammage 2 each other.

thats because it is people LIKE (i said like, not meaning you, i don't know you although what i have read so far is pretty damn intollerable) you that are doing the threatening
the majority of people aren't criticising people that look like chavs but the people that act like tossers, i tend to try and keep my opinion of someone from what i see them do and not to paint everyone with the same brush, maybe that is why i have had a fair few run-ins with them for not being weary enough

don't let em draw. and the knife isn't for when u know he's got a gunor anything, not even to threaten. no the knife is for when you see the other draw his blade (like it has been in the past in my case), then u draw yours cuz these guys mean business.
Look, I can proudly say that i have never started a fight in my life and that i have never had to draw on anyone yet (I'be gotten in fights but the knife stayed in the pocket). I hope I never will see the need to do so but with some ppl it's just best to carry protection around, u just have to be smart enough not to think that ur a big man cuz u do cuz the other guy might be packing aswel.
I'm just saying that it's hard to judge the things ppl do when u don't know the whole story. Here gabbers are looked down on cuz there are quite a lot of scumbag amongst em, same with chavs I think. But that doesn't mean that every individual is bad when they belong to the culture. what that does meran is that those same individuals will be likely targets for just about anyone who wants to pick a fight and beat the shit out of u...
we just don't like to be the ones bleeding to death, we prefer the other shits to bleed for what they've done.
