Stayed away from this topic for a while but as it's hittin 10+ pages think i'l write a wee essay the way i see things.
I personally love growin up in britain, jus turn on the news and you'll see whatever problems we have most the population have a lot lot worse.
But all is not perfect around where i grew up like a lotta areas was quite bad for gangs, stabbins, smackheads, scitzophrenics etc. People were murdered for ridiculous things like what town or scheme you were from or your religion or football team you support. Especially when a lotta riots were happenin it could be a scary place, vans fulla proper boys would come lookin to attack pretty much anybody to have revenge on our town and vice versa. I saw a lotta things too young like a mate stabbed in the lung and almost bleed to death, and less serious i have an 18 stitch scar down my face for simply bein in wrong place at wrong time when a crazy bastard was havin a bad day.
I'm neither proud or ashamed of it but from about 12-17 i'm guessin most people would have classed me and my mates as neds, charv's, chav's whatever your area calls them. Misguided or not i didnt hang about in groups to say

cut off half my post so here's the rest......

Misguided or not i didnt hang about in groups to say "woooo look at me i'm a chav, check my sovvies and burberry how mental" like a lotta idiots on internet who are actually jus normal teenagers tryin to act mad. It was a simple fact that you felt safer in a group of 40 boys you new would look after you, and havin a strong bond with people i grew up with i didnt want to stand by and watch them get hurt. I now no this is misguided cos i've met many people from a lot worse areas in my city than me who kept a quiet life and have still gone on to make a sucess of themself, it was jus the way my mind was set at that age.
Out of the 40 or so mates i grew up with i've got a lotta people i still call good friends, but there's people who are jus wrong, evil and always take things too far. A lotta this is down to havin terrible childhoods like ma/da into drink/drugs, abuse, family killed or whatever but you cant use that as an excuse to let people away with anything. My opinion is if you cause more damage than your lifes worth you should be locked up and never let out end of story.
I've been lucky and had chances others i no never had and i no and appreciate that, no matter what i've ever done my parents always stood by me and when i felt i needed to move areas to change properly my dad was more than happy to have me at his place down south. That was the best thing i ever did as i find movin you can become who you want to be without any loyalties or reminders holdin you back.
I'm not tryin to glorify ned culture with this post jus wanted to try and open up more than jus a right or wrong argument to a very complicated issue.

im 16 and i wear that when im hangin about wid my m8's, and no i wont wear that down town neither. doown town i would wear a pair of faded jeans with a fcuk top or a ben sherman shirt with a pair of rockports on me feet.
obviusly thats not all i wear there is more i got, but u get the idea anyway.

wow, am i glad that there are not "chavs" in america. No one in their right mind would dress like that here!!!!! who the hell tucks their pants into their socks? Maybe they should wear football helmets so they don't kick their own asses. I'm sorry, after all these replies, I figured that it was time to say something like that. ugly hats, stupid pants, gay shirts and violent tempers. Maybe if you guys didn't pay $300 on a pair of ugly pants you wouldn't be so pissed off? grow up, leave the burberry clothes for old people and jennifer lopez, leave the lonsdale for the skins and take your damn pants out of your socks!!!

i was done with this as i had said all there was to say really but people keep choosing to ignore that a chav isn't someone that looks a certain way. leelo you sound like a bit of a retard, reading the local newspapers all you hear nowadays is about how some chavs have put some lad in hospital. it has happened to me twice now in last 2 years, you think after this and all you read about i ain't going to be a bit weary of them and be aware of there presence? please. same as if a dog attacks you, you're gonna be weary that it could do it again, same goes for the people that look like the guys that beat you up.
if something happens often enough you come to expect it, yes it is stereotyping and often misguided but as the saying goes 'it is always the minority that spoil it for the majority'

thats because ur a shit pants, ive got beat up by chavs and ppl like you, and i still dont shit my self when i walk past a load of them because even if they did jump me, the next day i will get my mates and we will go down there and beat the **** out of them. like i said chavs are all about sticking up for each other.
