Heres a question for all you hardcore ravers,

where do you think hardcore music will be in say 5-10years time?

Do you think it will die out (never!),more new styles? etc.

I love all the pre 2000 happy hardcore, i am not much of a fan of current hardcore (with exceptions!) so the future could go anyway it likes as i will still be listening to the old stuff!

Interested to see what yous all think including the guys in the business.

I feel like Happy hardcore is going to continue on it's trancey-influenced path, bringing the minimal style as well which will die out when the next fad comes in. I think there will be some artists who try to push the genre to sound just like sped-up trance, with no words. There will be artists who make it like sped-up trance and add too many words (with no chipmunks). There may be some artists who try to keep the pipe organs and kick drums, but I don't see Hardcore doing away with it's Trance influence it seems to be stuck with. I do wish artists would try to incorporate more tracks with happier, energetic, insane, wild, and hard (everything that made Happy Hardcore what it was/is) back into the genre. I also wish that Hardcore would incorportate Eurobeat influences with the disco sounds and wild keyboard synths (though I think Eurobeat kind of copies Happy Hardcore, just slower).

I just hope hardcore doesn't get too silly.

If it has to go backwards, I'd much rather have the euphoric 140bpm breaks of the early 90s.
However, I'd prefer evolution.

i kind of agree, altho i don't mind sillyness at all, just as long as we don't travel backwards in order to get it.

A bit of silliness is ok, I don't mind it being fun. Here are two examples:

I think UK hardcore now has lost all meaning and feeling. it just follows the same formula.. even the new producers (well some of them) are trying too hard to be somebody they are not... even the established people are trying to be.someone else... take Jamie ritmen as sonic vox... he is soooo trying to be darren styles or be very similar...

the thing is with hardcore now without ever hearing a tune its like you've already heard it but you havnt... well in a way you have... the last mix u listened to was basically that tune...

the future... hmm, more of the same I'd say...

As far as Ritmen goes, he was part of Force & The Evolution along with Styles so you've got to think they have similar music tastes and production styles so that's no surprise to me.

As far as the op goes...who knows. Hardcore is currently going for a mini evolution so we'll have to see what happens when it finally goes through the big evolution. It's at a point similar to 99' before the trancy style started to be written well in 2000/01. I think in the next 5 years we'll continue to see more electro influence, more dubstep and less vocal influenced tracks than usual.

I expect hardcore will continue to be influenced by whatever style of music is the fad in the UK at the time.. ergo the whole dubstep thing now, and the who electro thing from the past 4 years..trance before that

has anyone else heard Britney Spears new song? LOL

I think we'll still hear fluctuations in the commercial style of hardcore. Dubstep, drum and bass, and minimal influences.

Smaller artists will attempt to imitate it as much as possible. Freeform will continue to go its course, maybe dabbling in more innovation gradually.

Breakbeat hardcore I reckon will continue to wither away, hopefully as CLSM and Entity keeping it hanging in there. Though that said, Darwin and Fracus have slammed out quality tracks in Out Of Control etc

You're right, there have been some pretty silly tracks from even last year (they haven't had time to release any this year I guess). That version of the track is certainly a little better, at least it has a much better kick. Guess it just isn't to my taste.

The 'Hardcore' mix of I want to be a hippy is the best one I think. Heard a differnt version aswell.

Got a feeling got me into Hardcore as well.

More hard kicks, less Trancey and 'minimal' tunes please

UK hardcore (with related genres - freeform, brekbeat hardcore etc.) is fantastic at the moment. There's just so much good music around in obvious and non-obvious places alike. I'm really baffled why people focus so much on the elements that bother them (dubstep & electro influences etc.) rather than on the truckloads of varied and awesome music that's out there. If your favourite labels/artists are failing you, just seach out of the box a little and you'll surely find amazing sounds.

Future? I've never been this optimistic. :)

I agree 100% with this statement.
