just had email from jon doe @ the clsm store
Hi everybody.Usually I let you know about releases in the store, post a clip and the name of the tune and point out the store's link. Since 1995 or so, I have had releases in various forms, in fact my first official release sampled the Bouncer by Kicks like a mule. I recently made a new version and a guy called Faction G is rapping on it. THis has been played a few times on Radio1 and is now out on Itunes today. Usually a big company would do a video (this is funded by Bunter and Slipmatt and features Dave Coutney http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KxQa0_BIdks ). Then they would do all manner of things to get airplay but this costs tens of thousands for all the promotion etc.- our group of people just doesnt have that kind of cash cash money. So we cant get on the front of Myspace or on Orange, or MSN etc. All we can do is get as many people to hear it and buy it as possible. So far there has been quite a lot of Radio play from Rob Da Bank, Huw Stephens, Kutski! and MistaJam (who played it first). Soccar AM used it as well- woop. I very rarely (and I actually mean never) get the chance to get in the charts. So if you have 79p- please buy the tune, just the main mix is enough and if you know other people then post it on faceache, twitter and myspace etc. Here is a link: http://itunes.apple.com/gb/album/ya-names-not-down-the-bouncer/id385904427?i=385904488# If you buy a copy let me know- especially via facebook. Thanks in advance- sorry the mail is unusually off topic! Jon Doe

I thought CLSM/Jon Doe made music for the fun of it, not fame?

Regardless, he deserves it, doesn't he?
I don't blame him for wanting a go at it after 15 years.

I dont understand how people think that the piece of music was made "for fame" just because this is the piece of music thats been singled out as one that could do well in the charts..it doesnt mean at all that it was "Made" specifically for it.

If a track can't find it way to a toplist without having to ask people to buy it aint not looking for fame then?
Anyways, aint this in the wrong section?
If Joe wants to come up on a toplist, that's his cup of tea, but I wish it was Hardcore (Ik now Joe doesn't only produce Hardcore, but still). I'd rather spend my 79pence on porn thank you very much :P

No, it's one possible way for an essentially underground artist of closing the gap between himself and artists with a stronger commercial position. Jon has a dedicated following (myself included), why would it be wrong to ask people for some more support in reaching this goal? It's a pretty fun goal too and a cool experiment.

I imagine it will get a lot of airtime coming from a tinny mobile phone system on the back of the bus.
So bad. Best of luck to CLSM though

funny, I only said i didnt buy one album. So downloading one album is worse than buying 50+? Yea, I guess I'm that dirty.
Anyways. Didn't like it, so I wont buy it (and now I wont post anymore here).

yeah, in this instance you just look stupid, a perfect example of someone "not getting it"
79p for a good person, not the music - did a superb job at showing your true colours there samination
im guessing you dont give to charity either because you personally dont get anything out of it
*thumbs up*
not that it matters anyway - as you dont live in the UK, so even if you had been kind enough - it wouldnt have made any difference chart wise.

I am giving 150SEK a month to Greenpeace, but I'd rather change it to WWF now.
