Didn't credit Alice Deejay at all. Punk Bitch.
they never do. here's another 1
read somewhere that when they were interviewed and were questioned about that song, they stated that the whole song was completely original and their idea. yea f**king right!
well... "pretty rave girl" was also a rip off in the first place wasn't it?
The tune came from DotA by basshunter, but s3rl made it more happy hardcore (since DotA is trance or eurotrance or whatever sub-sub-sub-sub-sub-genre it belongs to) and did his own vocals. It was different enough to be considered an original composition if you ask me.

Actually both s3rl and basshunter used the melody from another track I'm forgetting the name but the r&b mix is a blatant

I miss proper Rap. Rap these days is absolutely ****ing awful.
****ing hell man theres lots of good underground shit, go listen to some Joell Ortiz
Checked him out and meh. Rap used to have a different vibe to it, it longer has this vibe. Though i do quite like this
And Nas has always been a favourite of mine, even now. Eminem was good up untill Encore, but much better this
Specimen: No Hardcore or Dance music fan has the right to complain about rap artists sampling Hardcore, how much has Hardcore taken from Rap? Every bloody Happy Hardcore tune had some kind of rap sample and some Hardcore tracks still do have the odd Public Enemy sample. Sampling has existed for a very long time.

Sampling.. which involves using a small portion of another artist's song in an otherwise original composition. Not just jacking the whole song as your entire melody.

they got it from daddy dj. i can't remember if either or neither of them asked permission or got the rights to use the melody, but i did hear that daddy dj liked pretty rave girl much better over Butthunter

nah this is wrong as well, the original is an 80's track or something...
Those credit the original artist, generally speaking.
What, on the vinyl release themselves? It's very rare a Hardcore track will credit it's vocalist, nevermind stolen samples. There is no moral high ground here mate. Hardcore artists are some of the biggest pikeys going.

Sometimes I wanna make money But sometimes I ain't motivated Sometimes I think it's overrated Sometimes I'm thinkin' I wasn't supposed ta' make it But what I show is basic, I normally pokerface it Sometimes I wanna make music Sometimes I think it's jus' useless. So y'all don't hear alot of new shit Clueless, dependin' on what my mood is.

erm - no they dont
Ok, you're probably right, and I have to admit my opinion is pretty biased as both a fan of hardcore and music the requires talent and a hater of mainstream rap like lil can't rhyme for shit. But if you think about it a little differently, most hardcore covers of old songs like on triq's site are songs that people know, then they get reinterpreted into electronic music but most people will know that it isn't 100% original. What pisses me off about the pretty rave girl song especially is that not as many people will recognize DJ S3RL for his work stealing it from basshunter who stole it from daddy dj who stole it from "some 80s song." Also, latin said that they stated in an interview that pretty rave girl was their own original work.
Honestly most of this boils down to the fact that 99% of rap sucks balls, and I don't want them stealing good music and ass****ing it until it sounds as bad and uncreative as everything else they touch, which is where this is headed.

you arent seriously suggesting you are the only one here that listens to other styles?? lol
wow.
the exact same sort of thing happen when Shooting Star was re-released as a regular commercial dance track by flip and fill in 2001 (when you were 9).
alot of us (who listen to a large variety of music, just like everyone else) were a tad annoyed that a popular hardcore anthem from the midninteys (when you were 5) was remixed into such a commercial dance track.
and as for pretty rave girl - so what? the song is shit anyway - as is the original.
i can see why you get annoyed - but it is no different than any other hardcore song YOU listen to that you didnt know was a cover version.
for instance
In iki and El Nino - Rememberance
off bonkers 7, is a complete rip of an older song - do you know what the original is? (a cookie to those that DO know)
(no point looking at my covers list as its one i havent added yet)
I mean there may be a few out there who credit hixxy with originallity on that one - and those who know the original must be steaming ,how someone can steal that song rename it and pass it off as their own on a major CD release!
as for the rap thing - yes its absolute shit. but "heading"? its already there! its been this way for a while now...
plenty more, cant be arsed to look (betting you only recognise the haddaway one of those ;) )
bottom line is - yes its shit - but pointless having a paddy about it on a forum where everyone agrees that its shit. just tell these fabled people who dont know!
