I dont think any mc has any skill... Unless its bruce buffer... Some mcs can be ignored... But unless its storm who constantley gets the music stopped and counts to ten then he cant as hes an irrotating prick... He loves the sound of his voice... He loves the crowd doing his every command... He thinks hes some meag famous superstar mc

May aswell lock this topic before it turns into an Mc hating thread as per....

Il give my personal opinion before that though...

Mc's live, can add to the experience and hype a crowd better than anything and in some cases are essential with certain types of hardcore....Plus if the Mc is slightly bad the dj will usually turn them down a bit so they are easily ignored if you just want to hear the music.

Mc's on tape/cd packs are usually quite annoying you have no idea how many tapes i cant listen to because of a shit mc or an mc whos voice is ****ing annoying (no names mentioned lol) But again they can be brilliant e.g any set with Mc2 on is amazing and a Vibes set is nothing without livelee....Sorry Vibes but there a duo that need to be used together...

Anyway let the hatred commence :) :)

TBH MC's on tapes/ CD's are utter shit. If the MC is used as a "vocalist" on a track, well those can be really good at times. E.g. that finger dude who just posted.

Hmm I personally think MC's don't fit with Hardcore! There's too much vocals and melodies in Hardcore and the voices from the MCs just don't fit to this type of tracks. Although I think MC's are great in Drum & Bass.. but maybe they're just better..

For me it's in live that they're the most annoying. Or on a compilation when it's recorded. But in tracks I do like them, stuff like "Ain't Seen Nothing Yet", that's fine imo :)

The whole live thing dusnt wash with me... To me mc'in is like a thing for males... Were females like to sing... Males think its cool or bad to mc... Also whats with the faster the better?... Most mcs ramble that much crap at such a speed then it cant really be heard to the human ear.. Sorta sounds like aliens have landed and ive got one rambling down my ear...

Nothing personal to anyone just mc'in isnt an art.. Isnt cool and isnt actually any good.

Yes livelee is a legend but he shoouts... Tbh i dont think theres one mc other than livelee that i do like...

haha that finger dude!

I think MC's who's vocals are recorded and added to tracks properly are fine. Wotsee, Energy, Sharkey, etc

However, MC's at any event ruin it. They shout random unrelated lines, use dreadful singstar (probably) microphones and they are levels far to loud... they obstruct and ruin the music. They're persona doesnt even change during breakdowns....

It's not, that's only when you listen to recorded sets, then yes they are too loud, because on the mixer it's set too loud, but you have to think that in the club there's also the speakers which are set differently, and that's where it splits, mixer -> speakes and mixer -> laptop/recorder. That's what happens to me sometimes when I record a mix and I play in a club, the master is set to very quite because the speakers are on full blast, for the reason that while mixing, you cannot go at the top behind the speakers to put it louder, so they already put it on maximum and you can regulate the volume ( which at maximum will destroy the whole sound-system ) from the mixer.

Also you gotta think, if the sound-system in a club is bad, the lows will "eat" the mids and you won't hear the MC so good. Whereas in the recorded mix it will be too loud.

That's why in a club the most important is not to have fat basses, but also good mids and good highs, so that the sound is kept cristal-clear ;-)

Hope that helped!

Hardcore ones almost none, maybe 4-5/year, because of the lack of events.. but that's not my fault..
Appart from that,
House Events: each tuesday, each friday and each saturday
DnB Events: each thursday and each saturday if not going to a house event

I've been to 5.
February was the last time I went to one, Hixxy, Styles, Gammer, Joey Riot and Scott Brown were there too. Storm and Whizzkid Mc'ing I think Wotsee too (I think he might have even set the event up)

All the raves I've been to have been great. I don't mind the MC'ing live at an event. ****ing hate when people put mixes up on here with them though (sorry)

totally opposite to me then, love all MC's good and bad, love all my tapepacks and CD packs because they have MC's, I hate the falseness of a track with an MC on though, just pointless and crap!

i don't like MCing in non-live cds such as true hardcore to me that ruined it, but as far as live cds (not a hardcore cd but DJ Irene- Live the MCing was incredible b/c it was only in a select few tracks) is ok

but yea i'm one who believes that the music and mixing should speak for itself, and be enough to hype up the crowd if done properly

o and haven't gone to any event that had MCing, but then again last real rave i went to was 10yrs and i was too f**ked up to really remember if there was any lol but i kno it wasn't a hardcore event mostly HH
