There are endless chord progressions and lead patterns, there's no reason one needs to blatantly copy another riff unless he lacks imagination.
I think, since they're buddies, Squad-E intentionally borrowed Re-Con's riff from Getting Better, and the Kick Your Legs/Baby I'll Let You Know are purely coincidental.

I heard a hardcore track last year that had the same riff from Skydivin' and I noticed it right away :S found that amusing.. I wish I could remember what it was.
Hmm Phenex- Angels in my head? I love that tune it does remind me of something!

That does sound similar, but that's not that one I was thinking of :( Hm, if I figure it out I'll post it. I only remember it having vocals and me not liking it. :P

Isn't the melody in Marc Smith & Gammer - Pump This Party from a Bomberman game? Or is my memory playing tricks on me again?
Seriously, it sounds so familiar! Ugh!

though OP - it does beg the question - what if the song they "ripped" has just a riff in it - just makes it a cover version/rip all the same as if they didnt use the co

There might be a lot of chord progressions but it's hard to find *good* ones that haven't been used, in a key where bass sounds good at hardcore speed.
There aren't really endless lead patterns for an offbeat bass track. There's a lot of possibilities but the most effective ones are the most current in modern hardcore (16th notes).

QFT, I couldn't hear past the resemblance when Come With Me first came out... I still love both tunes to deat, and I like that FInd Your Way is more on the melancholic side while Come With Me is plain happiness.

You have to remember that a simple appregio shouldn't be considered copying.
There are some blatant rips though, but oh well.
As for the debate that hardcore stifles creativity, that's bollocks. You don't have to do anything to stick to any formula. Most producers are just not mature enough to move into more advanced forward thinking things, and by the time they do they usually have started making a different genre... or god forbid... minimal techno...

I hear that a lot about Angels In My Head. It seems to remind people of something, but nobody can ever put their finger on it. I for one can't remember whether it was based off of anything else, but I think it wasn't. Would be fun if someone could finally put their finger on it though! :P

I think "Hardcore Nation" by Darwin and.. Stu Allan (?) copied the riff from "21st century rush" from Gammer I think. Anyone knows when that 21st century rush tune is going to be released? It's wicked :)
