Here's what I got from that...
1. You're drunk
2. You overhear other drunk people
3. You assume that they are "underclass", drinking stolen alcohol, and are looking for trouble
4. You call the cops
Do you actually know these guys personally or have had a problem in the past? Did you know for a fact that the alcohol was stolen or that they intended to harm someone?

Yeh I was a bit drunk. A mate of mine had problems in the area from them so i thought I should make the police aware that the problems are still in the area before it gets out of hand!

hmm.. well...
some ppl might call it "wasting police time"
however, these days almost anything smaller than murder is pretty much a waste of police time, most of police time is spent clearing up after something has happened, and very very rarely stopping something happening in the first place.
so.. imo
if they were underage + drinking wich IS illigal then why not get em for it and eliminate any probability of something worse happening...
also, they should lower the age of being accountable only as a minor and not an adult from 18 to 12.

You said that these particular individuals had never given you a problem personally, so why would you generalise them as scum? Is it because they talk or dress a certain way? What would them being poor have to do with it?
I don't live in the UK, so of course I am not familiar with the social structure there. It just seems like an act of ignorance to me.
It's similar to when I go to a bar and the bouncers immediately start to hover in my vicinity. They assume that because of my size and appearance that I am there looking for a fight.

I have not even been bothered to read the rest of the thread, I totally agree, why are you making so many assumptions Smoogie? But, while writing my post, I looked over the review of the thread and saw your second post and just thought what the ****!?! Seen you chat some ********, but stereotyping? Because you saw some 'scum' drive down near your road, that means these people are scum?!? Bank raid? Xenochrome it is an ignorance, just the same as it would be where your from, no different here.

Some people will always stereotype, glad that I can generally say I don't.
And for calling the police I hope a special edition platinum Blue Peter badge is delivered to your door.

The area has little trouble and I wish to keep it that way so after hearing the sounds of pissed teenagers I though about shouting '**** you you ****ing chavs!' at them, but instead i though, wouldn't it be funny if I called the old Bill and have the Underclass scum lose their precious booze (which they stole) and they would be pissed off, not pissed out of their faces enough to glass an inicent person!
So basicly, you where drunk walking through the town or wherever late at night....and you heard/seen a group of people doing the same thing as you and called the police on them?
Oh dear god the irony.....

The fact is the exact opposite. The police that had to investigate the call, would have otherwise been able to actually help someone in trouble.
Someone makes a fake phone call to police. Minutes after that someone makes a call on rape on the area the police was in. The police had left the area cause of the fake phone call and wasnt able to help the victim. Reason-result.

Must admit, I totally agree with you Smoogie. I was in a pub the other night, and there was so many drunken people. I couldn't hear what they were saying, but I'm sure some of them were swearing!!! I saw a bunch of chavs drive by the other week outside the pub, so I figured that the pwople I was seeing were all scum, and I bet they hadn't paid for their pints of Fosters!!! (Fosters - another sure fire sign of a chav if ever I saw one!!!) so, I called the police and left! There were probably about 200 people in the pub so I reckon I saved about 30 lives, stopped 40 girls getting pregnant and manged to stop 50 people getting injured! A pretty good result if you ask me!
