need assistance please!!
Anyone know if psp games are region free?
My bro said as far as he knows there is not a region lock, read on a few sites and it seems that way...
"the PlayStation Portable will feature a region lock encoding system, but that this lock system will not be used on games.
PSP adopts both a "worldwide" and "regional" code system," explains Molly Smith of SCE America. "For games on PSP there is no region code. However, due to language and system issues, quality assurance procedures are done in each territory. Therefore, we recommend purchasing both the hardware and corresponding software in the same market/territory.""
yeah, i dont really know what they are talking about
HELP PLEASE!!!

From reading what you have posted. Any game should work on any psp regardless of where it was intended to be used. There may however be no language change options on the games.
A quick search of play asia http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-14-71-7o-49-en.html shows the games they stock are not region locked.

DVD movies have a region lock on them, PS2 games do not.
Would think it would be the same with PSP UMD's.

Spelling mistakes.
As has been said... Games are region free, movies aren't.

Precisely
All games are Region Coded, but they all work Universally. The only problem with the games are Language barriers, but the games will work regardless
All UMD Movies are Region Coded as well, but are the same as DVDs and are Country specific.
EG:
take a UK PSP, it can play ANY game, no matter what code or language, but it can ONLY play Region 2 UMD Movies

Games certainly used to be region coded but seems they have dropped them, for the PSP at least from the replies here.

As far as i know you can play any (english) game on any (western) PSP. That means japanese and chinese and all that stuff probably wont work or not work right.
You can modd it or something in order to play illegal(?) games.
I believe DVD's come with a area code just like a regular DVD player. So only american DVD's will work on the bitch if you bought it in america. If you want to be able to play european stuff on it make sure its free for region 2. (which is europe)
That said. Im not entirely sure if this info is accurate. But it seems logical and also seems to follow your quote from the manual you posted :)
