When mainstream people you know slag hardcore sayin its cheesey balloucs rave that died and got buried a decade ago! grrrr.

what annoys me most is that they wont even take the time to listen to a solid popular release they just generalize the whole scene as old skool when they dont realise that its very much alive and lately growing with the constant release of hardcore compilations in shops like supermarkets. Surely this should make them realise it isnt as underground as they think? They seem to presume hardcore today still sounds as dated as Toytown or 99 Red balloons!

Another pet hate is dicks thinking your a druggy just for listenin to faster music. WTFs with that? I am like but thats not the point! lol

Your not the only one who feels this way. The first time I came to the forums was becuase I felt annoyed with people slagging off Hardcore as 'no talent' music just made for the money unlike more long established music genres like Rock ect.

to be honest, not that it sounds much better today... and it should stay underground, the innovation and the originality is lost when you can start to earn money on music (you will make the same kind of stuff, using the same samples 200x times over)

yeh well i only just came into the hardcore scene about a year ago. so i generally don't no wat you guys are saying bout toytown ect.
but i do kinda miss if u lyk the old hard nrg/nrg (bout 99-03) stuff lyk kickin hard 5, songs lyk: my eyes, love in a womens heart, moonlight shadow,Sometimes My Heart etc

but on another note i do hate it when peeps think that ravers are just peeps on drugs and also peeps who are ravers ( not really, just lyk to say they are and dont even really lyk the music) and yet say oh your not a real raver till u have have had some E's or it's only gud if u take E's.

Dunno why it would bother you people thinking that, is only an opinion and to be fair since 96 a lot of hardcore raves have been playing mainly cheesy bollocks.

I'm only 21 but much prefer older stuff, not stuff like toytown, redballoons or that shit but the 93-96 scottish/dutch madness and the early english breakbeat style.

But i wouldnt be ignorant and say it's all shite now cos i've loved a lot of freeform and gabber comin out, but thats cos i go to raves and listen to stuff here and whatever.

The more vocal end of uk hardcore at the minute really doesnt agree with me though, loads love it but it makes me sick. So say i'd only heard a couple of rave tapes or releases i'd most likely take no interest in modern hardcore and think it was shit.

People like what they like and everybody is intitled to an opinion.

If everybody like the same things life would be boring.

I didnt bother reading the posts of others (sorry guys lol)

tbh, i like it when "mainstream" people don't like hardcore. Why would you get pissed off? its more special when its kept to a select few friends.

Its better the more underground it is. also proves artists arent in it for the money...

upfront hardcore USED to be good!!!

underground is better, like em says, it ent all bout the money then... not just that tho but...

...The more underground an indestry is... the more genuine the scene is!!!!
^^^ thats the way i look at it... and always have!!!

The General public who follow chart music i.e r&b and 'trendy' dance music like house (which is all you ever here in the big clubs these days and is probably the only genre I have never ever managed to get in to which is sad because I could have some really good nites out with my mates if i actually loved the music as much as they do. Its just too slow and too funky sounding i.e gay and progressive i find is no better.)

People who like house, usually like or dont mind r&b aswell ive found. Thats the mainstream im referring to.
