actually my parents read the torygraph even though they both vote lib dem. i asked them why and they said in order to oppose something you should know what it stands for.

Sorry but i must stress the wording of the article in that it states "up to" 14 years. Basically this means that unless you are a Colombian drug lord that trafficks hundreds of kilos of weed a day in the UK, you will not serve 14 years, or even 4 years probably, due to parole and good behaviour and shit.

yes but still the point is that 5 grams will count as intention to supply. i dont know if you smoke but 5 grams is a very small amount of cannabis... its about 30 quids worth, i often buy more than that amount for personal use, and i could get a couple of years in jail + have dealing on my criminal record!!
why legalise it? because its been proven to be less addictive than cannabis, and less harmful than alcohol, and there has actually been research to show that the chemicals in cannabis actually slow down the growth of cancer. i know the fact that you are smoking plant matter still produces carcogens, and it can (very small chance - scientific stuides have shown this) cause mental health problems, but if the case was that everything that was slightly bad for you was illegal then why the hell aren't tobacco and alcohol illegal, coz im pretty sure they kill thousands a day!
