Ahh yes i do rember that topic, sorry I usually read things diffrenlty,
However i would like to bring to attention to a member, who has offended me, and various members, "drop dead fred" has posted comments on alcholics, pirating music, and others. Personaly this is of major concern, and hurts the general community of HHC.com. That member is a prime example of where this forum has headed

I admined my own forum a while ago and my idea is we can not let any of the posts in the general discussion board count to any post count. That means if you post in the general discussion board your post count wont go up. Helps reduce useless spam and encourages more people to post outside of the general board and make more meaningful posts.

I see where your coming from, but wont this just move spam from one board to another?

no, the regular rules still apply for the other boards about posting topics. Just turns some of the spammers away from posting usless topics because to them, it will be nothing but a waist of time.

it's not bad, but prolly one of the immidate things you can do, is lose post count on the name but keep the ranking system, So when you reach 500 posts the only way you know will be when ur stars turn gold, and your not just posting sh*t when your at 450 posts
short version:
LOST THE COUNT KEEP THE RANKING!

I guess it's a good solution then. It just seams such a shame 2 make this change because of a few spammers. But what else can we do?
It's a good thorey nexus, but i still prefer me and lucy's idea about a reputation ranking/box.

I think the idea is good but not everyone here wants to talk about hardcore, they want to talk about "general" things... that is what the "general" section is for.

i spend 95% of my time in here and get most of my posts from here, i wouldn't care if i lost my post count. i think someone that is attached to a post count has bigger problems than they realise

http://www.happyhard.com/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=14407&whichpage=1 Thing I posted a while ago about abolishing the post count, silver then added the joined date. I see people who have been here like 6 months with more posts than me :/

Hawt Dawg your avatar is hawt.
Hiding post count and keeping date joined is a good idea but it doesn't solve the problem of trolls/spammers.
Giving me the authority to IP Ban/reveal people will though.

Exactly, i think lots of people post in the general discussion board more. Me too.
What do the mods and silver think of the reputation bar idea?

Mabye what we need is instead of a post count, when guests and members browse through the topics. If they see a post that is interesting/related to hardcore/funny/shows a good point of view/or something else posertive. Then thay should be able to give a tick or smily face to their post. Then instead of having a post count, you have a tick/merit/smily count instead. I hope that makes sense to someone. For example if someone liked this post then they tick it, and i get a point. And each post could get like 5 ticks because 5 different members/guests liked it.

They have a thing where if you want you can comment on peoples post privatly and give them postitive or negative feedback, which build the reputation which are little green boxes under your name, the more green boxes you have the higher your reputation :)
Personally i think it's a great idea! I think getting a reputation is a lot more fulfilling than a number.
