seeing as how chernobyl is now safe to visit, I think all the half lifes of the radiation are gone at both hiroshima & nagasaki...they seem to do a lot of organic farming but I've found no studies of radiation still poisoning the land

I dont see how you can compare attacking a military target and attacking a city full of civilians. Hiroshima, Nagasaki and Dresden were all tragic war crimes. As someone said, there are no "good guys" in war, everyone does what they can to survive (Witch is why war should be avoided as much as possible). But it doesnt change the nature of those attacks, and I think its shameful that America tryes to "wash their hands" of it. Japans crimes should not be forgotten either, unlike some of their "nationalistic" politicians try to deny them.
For example, when America attacked Iraq, and Iraq would have launched an atom bomb to lets say Chicago, would it be justifyed?

I dont really know which way to go on this, i guess like people have said it a huge amount to end the war. But is it worth the loss of all that life, maybe if its going to save a lot more life it is, pretty hard moral decision. I dont think you could ever say its right but maybe it was necsessary?

you can always tell who has a beef with america when you read comments from these sort of topics...makes me laugh
who's ta say 60 years ago what was necessary? both sides make a good argument. Definetly not cool to bomb civilian cities, but not exactly the worst thing that ever happened in all history. Those Kamakazi dudes were crazy...hearing about how they would just fly into stuff tripped me out.
