Thats wicked,

Tired to work it out myself and use at as a comparison to another situation but the velocity part threw me.

E = 60*d*(1.0875 +0.7/v)

Where E is the energy burnt in calories
d is the distance travelled in km
v is the velocity in km/h

Working on the speed limit on a motorway (70mph = 112.7 km/h) and the distance from reading to london being 60.67 km (looked up on the net) then the total calories burnt for this journey would be 3981.3 kCal!!!

have i ever told you i hate you?

0.7/v

Is that 0.7 divided by the velocity or is that saying that it is the velocity?

Also did you get to 0.7 by dividing S by 2dp?

id say it probably means 0.7 divided by the velocity = ....

Its 0.7 divided by the velocity in m/s.

I got the 0.7 and the 1.0875 by fitting a line of best fit to the data I found on the web for running velocity against calories burnt per minute. This graph turned out to be a straight line, and the equation for a straight line is:

y=mx+c

where x and y are the obvious axes, m is the gradient of the line and c is the y-intercept (ie the value of y when x=0). So inthis case the gradient was 1.0875 and the y-intercept was 0.7 so I ended up with

y=1.0875x+0.7

dividing S by 2dp? s is the displacement right? what is p?

Jester: remind me to tell you about my theory of drinking making you brainier sometime..... you'll like it! And it'll be in english too! (of sorts)

The reason i ask is because i'd love to walk up to SHELL and say your going to go bust now Biochemical cars have come out.

I just hope they do in my life-time, running a car is just so damn expensive, and i dont car if your bill gates, it still isn't cheap.

I reckon if we had biochemical Living Flesh cars we would'nt need Plutocratic insurance companies,the cars themselves would self heal (Like Humans)

We would'nt need BIG Fat Cat Plutocratic companies riping us of for Petrol, (The cars would share our breakfast, lunch, and dinner).

They would be cheap (We would probally figure out a way to "Grow" cars.
