i hate smoking and i think there should be a ban in public places, like rapidbass said, taking pills etc will not harm anyone but the person taking them which i am fine with as it is there decision but smoking affects everyone around the person smoking aswell which is what i do not approve of. i chose not to smoke yet it ends up almost getting force fed to you wherever you go, smokers want to kill themselves, hell that is fine by me but i don't like it when it affects me and my health, go smoke outside. when i choose not to do something and other people do, i don't want to end up with there problems later on in life because they're ignorant and selfish

I can understand smoking bans in resteraunts and work places, but bars? no
if the government gets all this supposed money from the sale of cigs, then why are they helping people quit here?
actually studies have proven that people who smoke have a higher attention span than people who don't, not that that's a reason to start =P
making tobacco products illegal would cause the same effect of the prohibition of alcohol in the 20's

I dont know about Aus but in the UK smoking almost or actually pays for the health service

i hate smoking, i really dispise it, i think it is the most ugly thing a person can do...
if i see a girl who is incredibly good looking, who is exactly my type...and she has a fag in her mouth, i immidiently feel reppeled from her..it really really discusts me
but i would never agree to stop people smoking in clubs, as far as smoking goes if people want to smoke they can.
if people smoke around my meal's whilst i am eating, or first thing in the morning whilst im waking up - that is another matter. that pisses me off. otherwise i have no problem

i smoke, and i'll be glad of the smoking ban coming in to force in the UK. Like at the mo when i go out, pub or club, i smoke continuously, but when i was in Dublin, at a club there, i hardly smoked at all. Only thing i can complain about in clubs is, instead of walking in and smelling smoke, all you can smell is sweat and its disgusting, i know many people that hate smoking are all for smoking in clubs because of this.

You no what smell pisses me off at raves......POPPERS!!!
Horrible dirty chemical smell that doesnt leave your clothes even after you wash it. Worst place i've founds empire in milton keynes cos it's a small club if your findin it hard to breathe take in a deep breath all you can taste is the horrible shit. Combined with me not smokin fags can defo make you sick at times

and just to throw a spanner in the works a good ol kiwi comes in and says that over here in nz IT IS ILLEGALL to smoke in clubs pubs bars schools work areas anywhere that is inside and aint your home!
and you know what. it hasnt made sweet fcuk all diffeernce. more people outside. same amount being bought. people still dieing.
whats the use people whats the use. no i dont drink alcohol neither but i do feel sorry for the poor barstard who tries to take my red bull off me because he'll being eating through a straw if he touches the can!!

What drives me mad is total randoms coming up to me and mentioning on the fact that smoking is bad for my health.
I know it is.

luv the idea of smokers going outside in the cold. I aint been to a rave, but i no it can be a bit crammed in so i can c yer point, i hate people smoking almost anywhere, especailly in closed up places like clubs, why should they spoil the fun for us? If they want to damage their lungs with every toke fine, but dont damage ours.

I was a smoker for 5 years before quitting last summer, so i've been on both sides of the fence.
On the one hand i understand how annoying cigarette smoke is to the non smoker, it stinks and it makes the air thick.
On the other hand, if someone had told me a year ago i had to leave the rave and go stand in the cold every time i needed (and i can't stress the word needed enough) a smoke i would have put my cigarette out on their eye ball.
As well as being inconvinient to smokers, it's completely impractical to clubs and raves, with people walking in an out all the time people would be sneaking in for free.
To the people bitching about the dangers of seconds hand smoke I can say only this; suck it up. You would have to be in bars or raves on a near daily basis for your health to be significantly affected, and if you're in bars everyday your probably and alcoholic and second hand smoke is the least of your worries.
And people, the smoke smell clinging to your clothes is the weakest arguement i think i've heard, have you people not heard of washing machines? What were you gonna do, wear the same shit the next day?

You have that backwards, smoking pretty much pays for the NHS and everything else.
Bottom line is, if people want to smoke, that's their decision, and just because you know better doesn't mean you should try and force your opinion on them.
