i've run across this genre mabye....lets say a month ago and i cant stop thinking about it.....its quite creative in my opinion.....but i wanna hear more and dont know the places to find it......its not the most popular genre.....any producers/artists that have some tracks or just anyone that likes this shit let me know where to find some. I know many happycore enthuthiasts dont like the new trancey sound to hardcore.....well thats just what ive read ( i could be wrong) but im all about it.....its like the bangin 404 beat of hardcore with the trancey synth riffs but keepin that uplifting feelin that hhc gives ya. But i still love the happiness!!
skimpin again, eh?

Oli that's a damn nice mix. How long have you been spinning for? I need to go practice more now. One question though, do you use the cross fader or just the linear faders and mess with the eq's? I need to learn how mix better so I don't have to wait for the end of a song to make a decent sounding mix.

Cheers Lixx... been spinnin for about 2 and a half years, although freeform + hardcore for only 6 months (however i do a lot of hardhouse which is easier but similar)
i mix using the linear faders only. Xfaders are for scratching and dropins only :D
And yeah i used the EQ's
tyrants mix owns me tho :D

Linear fades are just the volume sliders for each individual channel. Since most crossfaders are crappy, many dj's keep the crossfader in the very middle and just use the individual volume controls to bring in songs. EQs (equalizers) are either sliders (usually on battle/scratch mixers) or rotary knobs that can control the lows, mids, and highs. This way instead of relying on your crossfader you can adjust the beats, vocals, and high freq noises and volume individually, making for a much cleaner mix. Using the crossfader is good when you are still learning to beatmatch, but most crossfaded mixes sound like junk so you want to learn to use the linear faders and eqs accordingly. Two days ago I just sat down and spent 5 hours on my decks and figured out how best to do this. Usually all you have to do is turn down the lows on the song you have playing while you raise the volume on the song you are bringing in (using the linear fader) and the mix will sound good, but it all depends on the tracks in question. Hope that made sense.

when i mix i usually use the crossfader actually, and will use the linear faders for cuts, etc... i'm not sure if this is the norm among dj's who mix hardcore, but it works alright for now. i guess i should try to switch to using linear faders. at least that will allow for more gradual fade-ins and fade-outs since the sliders are longer.... but hey, whatever works, right?
