Do you ever get upset when a DJ plays a song to slow? I am currently listening to a stream of DJ Ruboy -- Optimistic AND GODDAMNIT ITS SO SLOW!!!
So my question is to you:
Are you more "offended" when a DJ plays a song too slow or too fast?

some tracks don't sound good if played too slow or too fast.

its a personal preferance thing, some people like it fast others like it slow and it alos changes with styles of hardcore. For me the good old 170bpm works for me

i totally agree!!! its the same with all music though!! some djs think its a good idea to pitch an old tune up to use it within a new set but personally i think it ruins the sound of the record. It was never meant for that

Although I agree that some tunes sound awful at the wrong speed, my favourite DJs are the ones who take something out of context and experiment with it. Be it playing with teh tempo or just sampling off bits of it..... ie taking something and playing it how it wasn't meant to be played - and when done right sounds mind blowing!

Depends on the dj as underloop says i always pitch up hardstyle and euro tunes in my makina mixes and think they fit spot on. Must admit though when you get used to a tune at a certain speed then hear it slower it sometimes kills the feeling a bit but i'd never say never.

i hate slow tunes basically anyone playing slower then 180 is a bad dj. simple as that.
i prefer 182-190 but after that i think its 2 fast.

It all really depends. I make most of my tunes at 170 or 175. For DJing it all depends on the crowd. If its a crowd thats mostly into hardcore ill play fast. But if its a party with alot of trance and stuff I would play slower just do people doing have a heat attack.

That's a very narrow minded statement. I'm a big fan of fast tracks, and I tend not to like slow tracks as much, but I don't automatically throw a song/DJ into the bad pile just because they're below 170 bpm, which is around where I like it at. You've got to give it a chance, because it might be good, but generally I agree, it's better fast.

Meh! I don't care what speed it is, so long as it's still hardcore then what's the f**king problem? If the tune is too slow, then pitch it up.

As long as its not OTT in one direction or the other I don't care. I think a set can work really well starting slow and getting progresively faster.
