hi, just wondering what everyone thinks about this whole current "trancey" hardcore sound and how long it will last before a newer style emerges.
i personally am 50/50 with it, some i like and some i think is str8 up crap!. i much prefer the old scottish hardcore of 94/95/96.
sorry in advance if there has been previous topics of this nature.

Have to agree with you mr hatter some of the trancey style sounds good but it definitely lacks the energy of good old scottish bouncy stuff.
There is still some really bouncy hardcore coming out though check this set from Dj Haston from falkirk http://www.sbthq.net/audio/mixes/sessionmakina3decks8.ram This style of mixin on 3 decks appeals a lot more to me than just straight one song to another and definitely has more influence from old bouncy stuff. Thats makina (spanish hardcore) anyway but from uk good bouncy stuff comes out from quosh, maximum impact and evolution records quite often. Still love the old tunes though defo got their own sound that cant be re- created but hope that helps you find more new stuff you like. If you like that set check hastons site http://www.sbthq.net/main.htm for plenty good audio and mixes old and new. Venga familia!!!

The beauty of hardcore is the sheer variety of styles.
I love the trancey styles, this is what was meant to be. KEVIN ENERGY IS THE MAN!
I think it's good to have other stuff in there too, I like some old skool and the harder darker type hardcore (ie Hardcore Third Wave).

i think more artists will go towards the sy/seduction style. sort of happy and bouncy but still an element of trance in it (only a tiny bit)

I don't care, as long as their's people like V.A.G.A.B.O.N.D/Gammer/Oli G ect pushing the boundaries of hardcore, and providing the music makes me feel the same way as it has done over the past 11 years or so, regardless of the changes, then i say "bring it on".
