what sort of keyboard? A 'MIDI-controller' keyboard or a synthesizer-with-keyboard?

if the first one I recomend the sereis by Evolution (also as in Scott B's label!) I know somone who has a small 2 octave one! use these with your PC to control all your VSTi

second one is up to you, you either go for a classic synth from 80s or somthing (if you do, I recomend you check it has Midi In/Out anyway) some 80s ones are cheap but some are gonna be way too much (i.e Roland Jupiter8!!! < the monster synth!) then again todays synths like Virus C (a stylish synth popular with the trance-heads) are also expensive. I recomend some sort of Roland Juno for your first synth, good sounds and also the cheapest and friendliest synths around! and no I don't work for them haha!

The best sort of keyboard is one attached to a full size grand piano..... Steinway make some nice ones.... no midi though

I just got an evolution keyboard. Although it's not the best build quality, you do get a lot for your money. Mine was £120 for 49 keys, 12 rotary faders and two sliders.
