Personnally i wouldnt buy second hand decks unless you have them checked proffesionally. If you do wanna buy second hand then techs are probably the most reliable decks that last. Up to you really. If you get a descent 2nd hand pair and they work good then youv got a better deal than getting cheap gemini or stanton or whatever

yeah if i am going to buy second hand, im only gonna go for techs..
hmmm yeah i no wat u mean im really dubious about buyin second hand, but most the cases of second hand techs ive seen online have jst been ex-dj's kits sellin up due to financial or uni or something,, and most peoples kits tend to be in a fairly decent condition.. i mean if anyone here was going to sell up there gear it would probably be in decent cond !!
anyway cheers for your help !! :D

BUY 12's or 1210's
-theyre industry standard
-theyre reliable
-youre already used to the decks in the club if you get em
-they dont look like gimmick, rather they look more like a wet dream
and last but not least, if you skateboard they are comparable to independent trucks in the fact that ya just gotta get em..
theyre also the easiest and most durable to serve pizza on
throw your television out the window now!!! youll thank my in the end..

by the way if yer gonna get 12s or 1210s 2nd hand ... make sure to make particular attention to the pitch control.. bring wax you know really well to test it out.. prefferably something with a solid, rolling synthline or baseline
throw your television out the window now!!! youll thank my in the end..

I would like to ad that i startes for 6 months on gemini sa600s and they were a really solid deck that actually nearly as good as techniks. The only problem with em was the torque, or lack of it. I will say though i just ent a great fan of the techniks unless you get the mk5s coz the rest seem to just really be out of date. But thats just my view on it

you can get the original 12's fairly cheap now that they have newer versions available.
in my opinion, i'd go ahead and spend the money on them...most people wind up getting them anyway and it's just cheaper to save up and buy them than to buy a different deck and then wind up buying these later.

Dude, i bought My technics 4 months old and saved 600 Aus Dollars, so thats 200 pounds for you rich bastards! JJokes.
When you go to get check them out, bring 2 of the same vinyl, and play them both on Xero pitch (0). To check the speed are the same. Check the torque on both by movign the pitch up and down at the same time to see the reaction of both.
So yeah go 4 second hand and get a quality product, but make sure it good.
Just Accept It, I'm a raver not a crazy drug addict!

That's rubbish mate. You'll find more and more clubs using Vestax, Numark TTX-1s, Stantons simply because:
- they are more funtional (ever wished you could go up a few more percent but technics wont let you)
- The build quality is no longer what it was due to mass production
-all the aforementioned decks have straight tone arms and thus avoid the awful tracking of technics.
I'd say MK2's are still good value for money and especially second hand but if you are buying brand new then shop around and get TTX-1s for the same price and you can set them up to behave almost the same as technics.
But to be honest it's all about CD decks.
