Is there feed back coming from my speakers?
this doesn't happen with my cds.
Is it the speakers are to close together or near the deck?
The Amp is to close?
The deck is poo?
my wires are poo?
It plays ok but there is a hiss even at the best of times
Someone help me!!!

It sounds like you have the turntables plugged into the line in on the mixer, you have to have them plugged into the phono inputs.

Ok, I'm might be a dummy but.....
Line in/out is for the Amp Right?
Then I have 4 other channels
1 = Tape/CD
2= Phono/CD
3= Phono/CD
4= Tuner/Video
1+4 don't work at all with the deck, I have
the cds in 1+2 and the deck in 3.
What do you mean by grounded? when rested on the speaker, no it was crap;
However I have placed it on a black unit (it is wood can that affect it?) but still have a hiss, unlike the cd's, one speaker won't play but I do think that is just the speaker cable as I have had problems with that before.

Make sure your turntable is plugged into channel 3 phono and that the channel is selected phono.
The turntable as something that kind of looks like an TV antenna pluggy thing... screw it into the back of the mixer...
Better yet... read the turntable user guide book!

Thanks silver for the antenna thingy, I have seen that and will do that tonight.
It is in phono three and switched the right way, but for some reason it prefers cd/phono two, don't know why that is!!?!
I would read the book but for the fact its second hand so no book, bloody cheapskates!! Parents i ask you, no idea.
Still can't complain really, I am 29 now and they did at least buy me something with pitch on it!! Nearly got them trained; Its fairly new and at lunch time it only had a some hiss on it.

I may have read this the wrong way, but...
are you using a mixer, or just plugging the table directly into your reciever?

my guess would be your speakers are too close to the decks; try either puting the decks on a sturdier table or moving your speakers a lil bit further away

Erm, are you on about a Stanton mixer or Stanton turntable?
If it's a mixer, then it may be a common fault, as my old Staton mixer (SK-5) used to hum a lot when phonos were selected. When switched to CD (Line) it didn't hum. I put it down to a dodgy PSU, as that buzzed worse than a bee.
If it's a turntable then it could be anything from bad contacts in the head shell or a dodgy earth wire.
As for picking up feedback, that sounds like the speakers defo. Summot to do with the magnetic carts picking up magnetic interference from the magnets in the speakers.
Mostly harmless...
