I've never used the Stanton STR-8 50's but I've used the Gemini SA 600II...I liked them...it's got a good motor and pitch control...

You might be able to find a decent used pair for considerably less money than new ones. Just a suggestion, as I see a lot of people buy cheaper decks and end up buying techies later on anyway.

If you're going to buy one of the above, stanton is the way to go. But really try for the technics.

Trying for second hand Technics is a good idea but bear in mind that people often want silly money for them because of the demand.

There are plenty of decks out there that do the job perfectly well. As well as my 1210's i've got a pair of Sony decks and a mixer that i paid about £320 for and they work fine for me. The next decks i buy won't necessarily be Technics again cos there's quite a few newer (and more interesting) decks out there.

It all comes down to personal choice in the end so go with what YOU want.

Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they're not after you

Stanton turntables are horendous. I've never been so dissapointed as I was with my STR8-100's and they were the flagship model.

Rather than save up for Technics get TTX-1's by Numark. THey're just better.
But the old skool won't admit it.
