It was nothing to do with the music, the waffle board is where everyone went, there were loads of ex ravers and casual listeners over the years who stuck around just for that - unfortunately there were some political users who were EDL affiliated (I mean they have every right to support them but expect to be ripped for it), it was far from a majority of users and almost none were anything to do with the current scene. It just wasn't a welcoming place.

The owner was a raver like everyone else who started a forum. Intelligent bloke, not surprised he got fed up.

I was an avid reader of ush.net from around 2005 when the scene was absolutely buzzing. I think my post count was about 5 when it was taken down, but that wasn't a reflection of how much time I spent on there. My join date on here is more or less exactly the same time as USH ceased. It always had a really bad reputation but in its heyday I always thought most people posting were decent enough. Towards the end was just ridiculous though. Very rarely went on the waffle board tbh.

Used to always go on the HTID forum when they had a website as well. Posted a bit more regular on there, as people were generally more into the upfront sound at the time.

It reminds me of the very early days of USH, where everyone was just so positive and upbeat, and no one would be mocked for not being cynical and jaded. I love it.

Before my days then. I joined in 2002 and i found it to be very cliquey. I still posted a fair bit though.

I think its sad as **** that forums are basically dead, I've actually loved the bit more of a buzz that's been on here the last few weeks. Chokes me up a bit to read some of these replies about how it used to be, can't believe 'our scene' has ended up so badly on its arse.

USH was in equal parts brilliant, frustrating and absolute bollocks!

Think I was there from early 2003 when I finally got Internet at home.

Was sad to see it turn into nothing more that a 'who can be the biggest bellend' contest.

Yeah it was always a downer logging on to USH to see no new posts in the music forums, but a few in waffle. Go to waffle, and it's a bunch of political posts or some argument over something trivial.
It's like logging into HHC.com, seeing 18 new posts since your last visit, and they are all in the radio section.
This was only at the end though when numbers were dwindling.

Occasionally you'd get Switchback or DK2X posting some actual hardcore news or interesting information, but then someone who only listens to 90s dutch gabber or stopped listening to rave music in 2001 decides to speak for the whole board and remark how shit it is, "who listens to gaycore, it's for faggots" and then wondered why no one bothers posting anymore.

These boards are doing well though! I used to love USH.

I got into major trouble at a job where I was at, as my USH logons were in the top 10 most used websites in the WHOLE OFFICE HAHA!

Hardcore wouldn't have been so massive 2002 onwards if it wasn't for ush, absolute fact. Proud to be a huge part of the site, part of some absolutely amazing wind ups and piss takes and the endless shanter, made some life long friends through that site too, going to Holland with TC next month! It was a great site, 2007/8 onwards maybe not so much but 2000-2006 ish absolutely great site, all the big DJs and producers were on there, all the events got promoted, new tunes and mixes, it was such a fast paced site for music.
