I've finally come to the decision to upgrade to some more "industry standard" equipment, however, I cannot decide on what to get. From reviews I've seen such as Ravine's, on the XDJ RX, having nearly all the features of the CDJ 2000 nexus, I (at least at the moment) cannot justify spending 3 grand plus for two cdjs and a mixer when the xdj (at least on paper) does virtually the same for just a little over a grand. Can anyone tell me, if there are any major differences, or benefits to spending more for the 2000's? Is it worth spending the extra coinage? I'm in a dilemma!! Any help appreciated as either way its a lot of money in any case. I would just like to know what would be the better option given the current and ever changing and evolving tech?

xdj-rx are crap, your better off with a VMS4.1 for ?250

if you were going to get CDJ 2000 it should be up against the xdj-1000, which can use all up and coming features in pioneers next gen rekord box and traktor

can get yourself 2x xdj-700 for the price of a xdj-rx, and just buy any crap mixer for a few months use

then you can still keep your VMS4.1 on the side on a controller rack, its only 25" wide or so and rock it better then clubs that use numark controllers

I prefer using "actual" gear. Even though the rx is a great piece of gear, i just prefer players for some reason. If you like all the fancy connectivity options go for the 2000s, if not go for the rx.

I've lived the dilemma as well. my advice: think whether you want a "dj controller"(since you will then probably drag around to gigs) or single separate units. if you already have turntables you might want to consider just shelling out the cash for a single nexus 2000 (or even a 900) and hook it up to your current setup.

xdj-numbers like -700, -1000 etc are just cdj`s without the cd, and can do everything the xdj-rx all in one controller can do and probably more in the future, so they have more of a buying point

the xdj-1000 http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/DJ/CD-DVD-Media-Players/XDJ-1000

the only thing that is still shittie about them, its they still don`t play flac

if you going to have this kind of setup, the VMS4.1 looks alot more techno head, and out does all other controllers under ?600 for everything is has and can do

not me, im a white man

all i need is a VMS4.1, and all my flac files

you can take off the rubber things on all the corners if you want to put it in a flight case etc, first time they can be crap to put back on

im never going to spend more then ?500 on a controller, you might as well just get any old from XDJ type decks

I prefer the cdjs over the xdjs because usbs can become corrupt, cds are pretty much fail proof if you keep them clean. Plus i like physical formats :)

Had the same dilemma recently. I actually ordered the XDJ 1000s & then altered the order for 900 nexus' - whether that was a good move or not only time will tell..

I just like the option of playing from disc but still having option of usb should I need it.

Something else to chuck into the debate. Is it just me or does anyone else think the new pioneer range feels a little cheap & for lack of a better word, tinny?

Throwing ?1,000 at a deck id expect the thing to have some bulk & weight behind it, I feel like I'd easily do these things some damage! Ive never used the 2000s but I'd hope those are a bit more sturdy because I dont reckon the 900s would last long in a club environment. Knowing this now I wouldn't go near buying an XDJ RX, you just know that for the price they'll have cut back on build quality even further.

Features on all the new pioneer gear are faultless. They've introduced some excellent new features across the range.

Build quality is a let down to me though. I could drag my 1200 mk2s to the club from the back of my car & the things would still see me through a set! Dont be tight on us pioneer.
