I know its a band but it also now appear's to be a genre.
Would I be right in saying it is the weird hippie dance sound nowone can discribe?
Would say the Orb in a present day form be considered Leftfield, or Sheep on drugs for example. Someone please help. If I am right in what I think, that they are mong out tunes then would anyone agree that 'Gong' started this scene in the sixties/Seventies

I dunno much but I thought Leftfield did that oldskoll/d&b tune called Phat Planet....used on the guiness adverts . I dunno if that's leftfield as in the artists or leftfield as in a genre.

I read somewhere that Leftfield used to call their style of music "Progressive", back before that word had come to adopt the meaning that it has today. Don't know if that's relevant or not (probably isn't).

So am i am sort of right but nowone is coming up with anything helpful in particular.Seems everyone is as confuesed as me. I seen it in the back of mixmag (sorry!!) and have been wondering ever since. I have a cd of the mongo hotline and that is suppose to be leftfield and fair enough it is very weird, still can't figure it out totally. Don't seem to be any rules which is cool but a little disturbing as I could make a track called 'wibble wibble' with a tribal drum, techno squeaks, random breakbeats and call it leftfield (I think that's right ) yeah?
