If I'd be a club owner I wouldn't even allow to play Minimal Techno / Tech House in my chillout area, but sadly this is the popular sound of electronic music in my area these days. Minimalistic music for a minimalistic generation.
It hurts so much that a lot of people who listen to such music over here use the term "raver" as an insult just like all usual haters of this scene, although they are part of the electronic music family as well.

Yes, it's the same bollocks over here as well, thankfully I don't think this 'trend' has crossed the channel to the UK yet, I can't escape this minimal techno/house crap for the past couple of years, and specifically during the summer, all the pubs, clubs and cafe's are in on it, and those of you that know me, know I love a wide variety of music and will give anything a chance but this is just slow repetitive awfulness...Sounds like unfinished tracks to me being played at an excruciatingly slow pace

I specially love these 12min minimalistic songs Deadmau5 used to do... with like, 4 min intro of just simple bass

It's the popular sound here too. has been for as long as I can remember. Ironically though, Alex had better luck outside the country even when he lived here in Bogota. He was voted best minimal artist in 2009 on beatport.com.

It's funny, it's not super popular here. Deep house is. But Mike Parker lives in Buffalo and almost never gets bookings, and he writes some of the best creepy minimal techno and is booked overseas often. We have some really good djs who play harder minimal techno at quite a few events, but it's usually the last set of the night so I'm asleep by then. I miss the old acid techno of 2002-2004, Chris Liberator and DAVE the Drummer type stuff.

I won't lie, I've never been a huge fan of techno but in my attempts at finding my place in the available scene I've made some wonderful friends such as Alex.
