With PPF, we have an hhc.com community-driven hardcore album. Now what about a hardcore production pack done in the same vein? Contributors would create and submit their own percussion, loops, effects, samples, effect/instrument patches, and so on entirely from scratch, and the pack would be a free download (possibly licensed under Creative Commons CC-BY-SA, although I'd prefer a different license as the BY part of it (requiring attribution) seems prohibitive since it's a sample pack). Something like this could help open up hardcore production to more newcomers as well as give current producers additional material to work with.
There are some issues that need to be ironed out, however:
- What is the definition of "create from scratch"?
- How could it be ensured copyright-infringing submissions don't make it past screening?
- Tying in with the above, how can the alienation of possible contributors be avoided for the most part?
- How many files per category is appropriate (not too much, not too little)?
- Other questions I haven't brought up but need to be addressed.
Thoughts?

does hardcore producer still exist? I've always thought this site could do more towards the production side of things..
offering things like the above and more, stuff doesn't have to be stored here (keeping costs and bandwidth down etc) but moving things around a little and making the sections a little more clear? I dunno..

Hardcore producer went a while ago & that would be great, to add a section here for that type of thing!!

I think something like the "Big book of... " Stickies, like they used to have on ush would be good. something like a stickie thread for patches, another for mixdowns, etc.
a separate download pack would be cool but how could we keep the quality controlled?
Perhaps we could do separate volumes like the ones they did on the Vengeance site, so it wouldn't just keep growing?

We're getting a wiki, actually, and I think that sort of information will fit perfectly in it while also keeping the forum uncluttered. Silver has already installed the software, it's just a matter of getting it configured and ready now.

That was one of my questions in the first post. It would probably involve getting a few producers here onboard to screen everything.

That's what I was thinking. "How many files per category is appropriate (not too much, not too little)?"

Or sampled from scratch (rather than using someone elses sample). If we want to be realistic.

how would you know if it was a tweaked preset...since synthesis is so easy to replicate
OOoooOOOo
We need to go deeper!

yeah we do, with loops an options, if i did a loop to send in i'd definitely use vengeance somewhere, if only for a snare or hihat layer

I don't think it matters if a preset is tweaked or not.

well, if we did do our patches from scratch/initial templates I think that that would not only be in accordance to making "our very own" production pack as well as pushing us to hone our programming skills.
as for loops, I don't know. do we even need them?
