I've never read the books (and don't intend to as I'm not a Star Wars superfan) but in the movies they only indicated that C3P0's memory was erased. Nothing was mentioned about R2D2's memory. It was obvious at C3PO's memory was to be erased he didn't know how to shut the hell up.

3po had one, but not r2....it works if you watch the films, and adds to r2's frustration with 3po's constant cluelessness....but if it's not that, then it's both of them that get wiped
