Does drinking coffee put you in a better state for producing music.
Back in the day when i first started producing i used to stay up all night making music, and i used to drink gallons of coffee. My production ideas came off the top of my head and i had no problems making killer tracks. I have since had kids and cant stay up all night.
Is there a link between coffee and good production.
I realise that if this is the case that you might not want to give away a good tip so you can pm me if this is the case lol

When i go gym i used to take a supplement called APS Mesomorph. It works your brain more an helps you to concentrate more an i found that i had more focus an i could get more ideas down.
I suppose coffee has similar effects since it's got caffeine in. It probably helps you to focus more since you were staying up all night..

lately I've been finding it hard to open cubase and sit down...get some ideas flowing - perhaps coffee is what I need!
I don't usually drink coffee so perhaps this is where I'm going wrong.

No more of a link than between coffee and being more alert than for anything else. It is a stimulant so naturally it will enhance mental performance for a while.

All coffee does to me is make me jittery and leave a bad taste in my mouth; it hurts my ability to focus, too. What works for me is Vyvanse, although it's a prescription (without it I regress into an inattentive, apathetic spaz).

i have terrible problems focusing anyway. and i have tons of projects that i started but couldnt finish.
i think i will try it today and see how it goes.
to be honest that sample loop i posted the other day was a product of coffee consumption, i only realised that last night.

It wouldn't shock me if most producers have lots of unfinished projects. I've got loads of unfinished projects. I put it down to me being shit and lazy rather than anything else. haha

I've got loads of unfinished projects! I've finished once recently I started a good 3 or 4 years ago. :P
Don't like coffee personally. I'll sometimes stop at a service station and get one if I'm driving a long distance home after a party but that's it. Have to choke it down too. Yes I have tried "nicer" coffees too.
Best time to make a tune for me seems to be after a party session, full of inspiration and just in the right frame of mind. Mix tends to need a lot of fixing a couple of days later though. :P

Most of my projects are unfinished. I have great difficulty finishing anything.

ha lol if i said i had a coffee this morning and today was my first day at producing would you believe me???? LOL
Nah i been producing for 7-8 years roughly. i do usually get some good stuff out but never finished stuff.
The coffee helps though apparently!!
There are still a few flaws in the above track but most people wouldnt notice.
it needs clearing a bit still sounds muddy but i been doin bits and bobs for months and experimenting with things and that is the outcome.

Cool, I'm very picky and choosy about taking feedback onboard i've found
Had feedback on tracks I've made in the past but I've found that alot of the time when people have pointed things out I've not wanted to take too much of it onboard simply because I like the way the tracks turned out...to change it would be to make it unlike my goal when I was producing the track; so generally I don't critique and tend to just compliment ;)
