Well, I'm not sure, if this is even a real genre, but since Faithless I have regulary heard this name and I must confess, that I loved a lot of Faithless' tracks which was released called Progressive House. Very sad news to notice they have quit, but one of the most beautiful tracks tmo was done by someone else (I even think it's still posted in my Trance folder XD):
Origene - Sanctuary (Harry Lemon Mix)
Please feel free to post your favorite tracks or advise if I am wrong.

Progressive House was big in the mid 90s, Sasha, John Digweed and the whole Renaissance thing. Some great tracks from this era

Only know most of the stuff that made it to air by faithless. Wouldn't really call it prog house just generic dance. But yes, they were great. Salva Mea is one of my favourite edm tracks.
90's progressive house was great. Progressive trance was epic. Gloat - skidaddle comes to mind, as does Be As One.
In terms of sheer excellence, two reference mixes are:
1. Digweed - 3/9/95 Essential Mix, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZRZ2oqgZ8Cc 2. Sasha and Digweed - Northern Exposure, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jb_RW1YqK60 Simply does not get better than those. The chimes at the start of disc 2 of northern exposure piss me off something fierce though.

A lot of gets labelled as Prog House now is shocking. Otherwise it can be a really really good genre sometimes. Often for me it's not but when it's good it's really good.
This is by far the best Prog House tune I've heard, if only they were all this good:

Big thanks for all your replies. Very interesting and rousing tunes. It works very well to start with it and upgrade to harder genres. I really liked to play these tracks before I listen to Trance or Hardcore. Or I'm just getting old... XD
