Well in Smoogie's defense (damn that's a first) this topic isn't about the quality of the show. It's about how memorable the theme songs are.

In my country everybody between the age of 25 and 35 knows the melodies of these series:












BTW: The Fresh Prince of Bel Air has also a great theme song!

All those shows have had their day. Never been a big fan of Corrie, just the same as Eastendes but set in Manchester not London. Grange Hill is great for peopl aged 10-14 but dosn't represent real life secondary school and Byker Grove weather you like it or hate it, has had its charm and put Newcastle on the map.
