I uploaded this a while back but it's changed heaps. I want to put a vocal in there, nothing complicated probably just a singing loop. Don't know what though. Happy to hear any suggestions if people have them - or any suggestions involving the track at all!
Cheers lads!

Commented! Very nice work, but I have to agree with Tri with his comments on the high hats. Spot on advice, Rowan

Thanks for the comments! Triq it's funny you mention hats because everything in the track just sort of came together really easy... except for the hats. Couldn't find an arrangement that fit every part except the one i've got. I'll play around with it though.
Flux, funny you mention it sounding like it has a lowpass filter on it. I mixed the whole thing on headphones on my laptop's onboard soundcard. I'll do the final mix on my monitors and no doubt the problem will become supremely apparent to me hahaha.
I'm glad you all liked it though; only thing i can think of to top it off is a small looped singing type vocal. I dunno. From now on it'll probably just sit gathering dust :/

Mate, remember that Drumstep is just Drum n Bass in 2 step, so some break shuffles and maybe raising the higher frequencies in the hats, like some already mentioned, would do this track really good.
The mistake some ppl do when they produce drumstep is that they see drumstep from a dubstep point of view, which is wrong.
EDIT: Raising* not raiding lol

Think it needs some more percussion (that might already have been covered with the hats thing). You could also try a stabby summat on even beats (on the "offbeat" as if it were ~85-90bpm), at least for certain sections.

It's what the cool kids call dubstep at dnb tempos. It's basically just faster dubstep.

is it though? I actually don't know what it is that's why it's in apostrophes.
But dubstep is 140 bpm 4/4 (to my recollection) with a snare on the 3rd beat instead of2/4 which is what gives it that swing.
This is 4/8 at 90 bpm. I also don't think there's a single 'dubsteppy' sound in there.
If anyone has an answer to what this actually is i'd be keen to know haha

Drumstep is just dnb with halftime drums. Usually jump up style.
About the track i think it needs ALOT more hats and percussions, its very empty.
And the bass sounds too clean
