i bought a pair of little speakers from asda for my desktop last month for listening to tunes on soundcloud (i usually use my laptop for that but recently it's been a **** and going slower than a pensioner on a trip to the shops) anyway now those speakers are ****ed all i hear is distorsion even when the volume is really low is there any good reasonably priced speakers i can buy?

two things:

1 - are you sure its the speakers that are the source of distortion? it could very well be your soundcard (especially built-in ones).

2 - if it's the speakers, i'd say look around at professional A/V shops instead of mass-market stores like Best Buy or RadioShack (or equivalents in the UK) since A/V stores will often sell lesser-known (to the general public, but very well known in the audiophile or studiophile community) brands that are usually a better deal.

as you produce, i can only recommend that you save for some studio monitors, passive's are cheap now & you can pick up cheap reference amps as everyone wants actives ;) just a cheap step in the right direction.

edit

for a good studio reference amp have a look at Alesis RA series (100 & 150) (got the 150 myself)
