Alright so I messed up and took my digital camera without a memory card at the first yacht party at HTID In The Sun. Luckily I had my cell phone so even though I knew the sound and video quality would not be that great, I still wanted to capture some of those moments.
Apparently on a good number of them I held the camera the wrong way so now those aren't playing on WMP, but they play fine on realplayer. What I need to do is somehow rotate the whole video to the right and they should be perfect, and possibly play correctly on WMP. Alright, so how the hell do I do that? lol

you can't since the "iphone" records it that way, means it stuck int hat aspect ratio of like 16:2
rotating it would make then whole video sideways
and to rotate it you would need a program that would be able to edit and render it that way

I have an android phone.
So if all hope is lost in rotating it, will the video show up ok if I upload it to youtube? it currently only plays sound while using WMP, but realplayer I get both sound and visual.

the reason its not playing in wmp is you dont have codecs for the file and real player has them built in, it will show up on yt just like it shows up in real player, with a weird shape.

Yea movie maker can't play them. And like I said not all videos have this problem. The ones that do play well on both wmp and realplayer are the ones where I correctly held my phone.
I tried movie maker before I even came on here and made this thread but it couldn't show anything to me and rotating it did nothing.

Rotating the video is rather easy as soon as you have it in a more common format. I'm guessing it's saved as .mp4, .mov or .3gp file which is tricky to handle in terms of editing. Search for a tool with keywords like "mp4 to mpg" and convert into mpeg or wmv. Then you can finally use the programme vdub or MovieMaker to rotate the video.

That's strange. It shouldn't happen unless there's a weird option on your phone that records it in a different format when held in different orientations.

If you want to play the videos that couldn't play on WMP but can on Realplayer (and possibaly let you open them with Movie Maker), I suggest doing a Google search for 'codecs for windows'. Try to download and install one of those codec packs that contain a bunch of different codecs for different formats.

They are all saved as 3gpp files, which is strange. Never heard of those types of files. I found a converter and I'll see about installing that and converting them to something a bit friendlier like avi

Alright successfully flipped my videos! And no it didn't take me all this time to do it I just finally started to work on doing it earlier today.
I went to dvdvideosoft.com and downloaded a 3gpp converter. After converting it to mp4 I went back to that site to download another app that rotates videos, but it didn't work. So I went back to moviemaker, and after updating the app I flipped the video in mp4 version and it worked. Now the videos play completely fine. Just thought I'd share this info in case this happens to anyone else.
