How efective is putting a hp filter on all the perc that needs the bottom cutting.
Also when rolling the top off what frequency does it need to be.
And if you have a kick that is just right but you want to beef it up so it stands out, what can you use. Can you add a low clap chopped up with low end at about 100-150 rolled off.

Depends if they have any sub content to begin with.. High passing percussion sounds used to be more important when sampling from vinyl.
It is a well known technique to roll off low frequencies on almost everything but the kickdrum and bassline although from experience ive found this can easily make your mixes sound thin and weak.. Be careful not to take too much away!

when ur askin about what frequency itll b different dependin on the sound use ur ears mate, sumtimes I put a snare under the kick quiety gives it a bit more punch, Ive got a vst camel crusher its good for that http://www.camelaudio.com/camelcrusher.php its FREE no ******* or anythin!!! Ive heard of people addin a clap to get a more oldskool sound bt never tried myself n ive not been makin tunes that long so not 100% sure, jus tryin to help :)
