I have been working on a vocal track and I thought I would ask peoples opinions as I am paying
for a professional vocalist. I haven't got the vocals yet as the lyrics are still being written.
So what do you think?
Updated the mix. Tell me if it sounds better now:

I think it's good. everything is in key or sounds that way.
I cant stand music if something off key i get cringes so it sounds in key.
Certainly clearer than any of mine and everything has definition.

Yeah man, not bad. Loving the main lead. :) Some of the sounds aren't quite powerful enough overall lead/kick/bass but it isn't far off at all.

yeah I posted on your soundcloud. Very nice mate I like the track, nice uplifting just the way I like my hardcore. Do you think your vocals are going to work? Fit etc. I like it I have followed you mate.
Edit: sorry I was just seeing as to why every now and then the volume enveloped in / out. Is that actually how it's going to be or just for security reasons maybe? If it's that good idea.

Thanks for following I returned the favour, I shall check your stuff out when I get time. As for the volume enveloping it is very easy to rip stuff off Soundcloud and I've seen many people do the volume fade thing. I'm not saying anyone's that desperate to get hold of it but it doesn't hurt. Obviously it wouldn't be part of the track as that would just sound weird. As for the vocals I'm paying for a professional and she has an amazing voice that sounds as good as any other dance/hardcore singer and I posted her a load of examples to what I want so hopefully it should turn out well. And @Audio Warfare I am not the best at mixing although I'm slowly learning so your feedback is much appreciated. I shall try messing around a bit more with the mixing side of things.

Cool I see, never really thought about people taking your things like that. Cool well hope you like my stuff, i always do melodic stuff aswell. Looking forward to the updated track mate keep me posted.
I seen a post on hardcoreproducer dot org giving levels to how you should eq all your certain things out like kicks, bass, hihats etc. I know everybody as there own way of doing things but it's pretty handy for a guideline. If your interested send me a pm or reply back and i'll dig it up for you.

Yea great I would be interested in seeing that. You might as well post it here as I'm sure it would be helpful to others as well.

As usual I agree with what Audio Warfare has already said.
The only other thing that springs to mind is
why does everybody have to use the same old chord progression/bassline that's been used in Hardcore since ****-knows-when
and, what's worse, no-one seems to notice..... or is it just me being unreasonable and hoping for something fresh?

The other stuff I'm working on at the moment doesn't use this chord/bass sequence it's just coincidence that it fitted in with the melody so don't think I'm one of these people that always use it. I suppose it has that happy, uplifting feel so that's why it probably gets used so often. If it sounds good to me then I'm not really bothered but at least I program all my own sounds and don't use Nexus presets which is something everyone seems to do . And thank you Phobz for that guide.
Edit: Hehe I had to smile when I went to your Soundcloud page and saw the 1st track there uses the same bassline/chord progression. See everyone has at least one song that uses it.

What chord progression / bassline would that be, i'm intrigued - name a tune so I can try to figure it out.

There are too many to name but for example this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WacrrPNUfLs and this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TtVaLtV-4Qw transposed into many different keys and sometimes the last bar goes to the octave above like in my song. In the key of C the bass notes would be C, G, A, F. It's common in many types of music not just hardcore. I was aiming that comment at Ionosphere by the way in case you thought I meant you.
