Yeah alot of people on facebook saying how its 'f**kin unacceptable' or 'sign my petition to get kutski back on weekly' or 'Stoopidz BBC headz, dubstepz iz shiz man, itz about da CORE' etc etc
End of the day its a national radio station and its business is ran on ratings....if Kutski was getting higher ratings than the other late night dj slots no doubt he would have been kept on week on week. Dubstep is far more popular than hardcore/hard dance so from a BBC business point of view, it makes sense. Im assuming that 1xtra must get decent listening figures so they are putting it on Radio 1. At least Kutski isnt leaving altogether like Fabio & Grooverider for example.
People seem to forget that music is a business and radio is big business, if people arent tuning in to a hard dance show on friday nights why keep it going?

its true - but perhaps more importantly is the license fee payer
if i pay for a 4 course meal, i expect 4 courses - and not three just because the rest of the resturant wants just 3 courses!
bbc radio one (the bbc in general) has a huge obligation to the license fee payer, no matter what taste, to the tune of 145 of my cash a year.
Buisness sense can only go so far when you are offering a public service which we are effectively taxed for.
I'm more curious/concerned about a 25-35 generation that is being "lost" as there is no Radio 1.5 between radio 1 and 2.

I know what you mean Triq and Im there with you....but Radio 1 will argue that hard dance still has its place on Kutski's bi-weekly show or whatever it is but that the fanbase isnt there to make it weekly.
Also....Do we actually know if Kutski had a say? Maybe he asked to be moved to thursdays to allow him to play more live events on friday nights? Unlikely I know.

Kutski did state on his wall that he's happy with this as doing it weekly is a full time job.. This now allows him to do more gigs.. Produce more and do a podcast..

Thats a good point. However, Radio 1 is the ultimate height for much of hardcore. Will it hurt us not to have the airtime, or did it ever make much difference?

Radio 1 follow what's popular at the moment just like 'the kids' do, so given their supposed commitment to new music it's only to be expected that they'll go with the times and what's in right now.

Agreed. There seems to be an unwritten rule that you must move on once you get to a certain age. I think one of the reasons i buy so much music is that there isn't really anywhere for me to consistently hear what i like.
I still listen to Radio 1 despite my advancing years and it still feels more relevant to me than Radio 2 (which gets forced on me at work). Although they're no fans of the majority of 'pop' music, even my parents won't listen to R2!

Kutski should get involved in the US more (which he is doing I've noticed). As Dubstep and Electro are on the decline over there, Hardstyle is starting to take over at the massives and Hard Dance is beginning to follow; check out this interview with Leo Corson:
I'm sad to see him off friday nights but I really hope he can get a slice of the action happening over there, it'd boost his career to no end. Hardstyle will be the next thing that takes over from dubstep/electro IMO, even Gammer is starting to work on some Hardstyle stuff now.

electro maybe is having a slight decline, but dubstep is just getting bigger and more commercialized in the US. There's a collab between Korn and Skrillex, and that little douchebag Justin Bieber's next album will have some dubstep influence.

I'm talking about the rave scene not the commercialised music scene, dubstep and electro are on a gradual decline in massives particularly on the west coast. I always get sent invites on facebook to so many massives over there and I've seen the headliners change from electro/dubstep to hardstyle in the space of about a year.
Justin Bieber will be the last nail in the coffin for dubstep, but you can't really say it's commercial if it hasn't even been released; the Bieber fans may hate it, who knows. Either way, all I know is that the kids are starting to get bored of dubstep there and what you're seeing now is the music labels who are about a million miles from what's 'hip' trying to jump on the bandwagon. Britney Spears did a dubstep track a while ago and since then people here seem to be caring less and less about it.
Also Skrillex took far too long bringing out his new album which as been 'lost' about 5 times now due to theft, laptop crashes etc. he's toured so many places in such a short time that people are desperate for something new. The problem with the majority of dubstep fans is that they will just favour the artist with the heaviest drops, so there's only room for one headlining dubstep star as far as they are concerned. Skrillex has left people hanging too long and they want fresh sounds. Who knows what's next, Skrillex, Deadmau5 etc. have all come about from 'EDM' becoming popular in America, it might sink like a brick after this and...punk might come back or something. Who knows.
Above and Beyond are getting a huge huge huge following and their last album ripped the iTunes store a new one, not to mention that TATW is so popular that twitter had to remove the TATW400 hashtag because it was flooding twitter, which is normally reserved for extreme celebrity news or Justin Bieber stuff. I wasn't so keen on Above and Beyond when they did their So who knows what could be next.
I hope hardstyle takes over, and I'm not even a fan but dubstep is definitely on the decline for the casual fans. It's pretty much on the decline for the same reason I predicted; there's only so much you can do with the whole buildup -> dirty drop formula and people got bored quickly.
