Speaking of melodic breakbeat, this is the most melodic breakbeat tune I've heard, and have actually needed it ID'ing since 1999. It's really obscure though.

The Beat Kicks is hardcore/trancecore, Cosmos is hard dance/trance, and all the difference in just few more bpm's and it's a ****ing different genre already! lol But in our case the difference is even more considerable, most important that it's totally different mood and contain other styles elements which are far from breakbeat.
You know, it's like saying that "DJ Quicksilver - Free" pizzicato house...

You do realise that it's possible to create a song that doesn't fit into any genre right? It doesn't have to be anything, it's just a song.

Belonging to a genre is one of a songs best selling points. If person a recommends a song to person b, person b is going to be curious of what genre it is (so they have a rough idea whether or not they'll like it). If person a says its not anything person b may be disinterested.

pretty sure these kinds of breaks have been all over computer games too (specifically futuristic racing games like Rollcage.
i'm coming at it from a slightly different angle in that, just because you add or subtract a few things doesnt really just bring it up as a new style
fair enough add adjectives to describe mood or feeling, but at the end of of the day its still just breaks

Hmmm... it still applies to promotional purposes though. So no, not necessarily. I enjoy making music to share it, I'm sure that's the same with most others. The money aspect is still there though, if you put the whole 'love for the music' reasoning aside, you still need to pay for gear and equipment, vocals, mastering, travel and any other losses. I'm not saying money should be the reason behind making music, but surely if an artist loves making music so much he should be able to make it for a living without being questioned about selling out? :P
@Triquatra - I understand where you're coming from, and I don't mean to be too specific or even try and squeeze out a new genre or anything, I was just wondering if there's any orchestral uplifting breakbeat :P I am taking half a liking to some of the stuff you're posting though ;D
